Therefore, the realization of sentient beings is excluded. If mere intention is the cause, then the difference in sound is not necessarily related to the difference in consciousness, even so, for those who are free from attachment, there is no speaking, it can be known through other valid means, and then greed is inferred through language. Because for this person, there is no constant realization, so the proof and its result cannot be connected, therefore speaking is not necessary. If connected, it is also constantly realized, if you say so. If this doubt is answered with "because there is no need," then it is not said like that. It is not that there is no need, because those who are free from attachment start speaking for the benefit of others. If it is for one's own needs, then it will be constantly realized, and because the proof is started for the sake of the result, therefore it is certain for the author, the actor, the actor, and his devourer. Not seeing the difference of self, that is, being free from the clinging to permanence, and the aggregates that have become ultimate are also merely of the nature of dependent arising, therefore, as the cause of the result, the collection of aggregates is accomplished by other causes, it is impossible to possess the result in an instant, therefore, like the noble truths, seeing does not start for one's own benefit. If others are also like me, previously not related to the result, and later cannot become the master of the result, if you say so, then it is not so, even if things are like that, because knowing that others exist, so it starts and completes, also because knowing that it has been possessed, and the compassionate one also starts for that meaning. For the meaning of liberation, others will also start like themselves. If it is thought that even if benefit is bestowed on others, it will not become one's own benefit, then it is unreasonable to start without need, and if it is thought that it will become one's own benefit, then it is also unreasonable to start because of knowing the self, if you doubt like this, then it is not said like that. Because completely not considering one's own result, merely abiding for the benefit of others, therefore it is reasonable for a compassionate person to start. If it is said that merely bestowing benefit on others, others become the place of attachment, then what compassion is this?

Doesn't that itself turn into desire? Desire is attachment. The Blessed One, prioritizing the benefit of others, promising liberation is also a form of attachment. So, what is the difference between being attached to one's own relatives and being attached to helping all sentient beings? To this doubt, the answer is, "It is so." If compassion is called desire, then it is indeed so. If one admits this, then is there no dispute? No, there is dispute, because their natures are different. For example, compassion is without fault, unlike desire, it does not make the mind-stream degenerate by causing the suffering of samsara. The reason given is that it does not arise from perversion. Perversion is self-grasping, and compassion does not arise from that. Therefore, when it is said that compassion and desire have different natures, what remains is only the application of the term "desire" to compassion. To this, it is said that it is acceptable. For that very reason, it is said, "For things that are completely determined, names are not to be denied." Its meaning is this: because compassion is not rooted in self-grasping, compassion is not the cause of propelling samsara. In the manner that will be explained, when the ripening of karma autonomously enters, it becomes the cause of propelling existence and karmic existence. If the view of self is exhausted, because there is no thought of fruition, it does not become the cause of the non-entering of the ripening of karma. Therefore, compassion, like desire, does not create faults, so there is no creation of faults. How does compassion not arise from perversion? Because, with the aspect of being unable to bear the suffering of others, wanting to manifest the particularity of the mind, the nature of compassion is considered to be compassion. Therefore, thinking, "I shall liberate these beings from suffering," this becomes clinging to self. Compassion itself, with the aspect of focusing on suffering sentient beings, is not actually for dispelling suffering, but is merely a way of entering into suffering. That is, recognizing "This is me." Therefore, intervening together with desire, ultimately leads the fruition to the same goal.
