It is not possible to establish proximity without making union the core, because the function of sound lies in understanding other things, and there is no accomplishment. In any case, it is possible to want to combine closely. Therefore, being separated from the nature made by desire, it is impossible without certainty, so the only certainty itself is the meaning of sound, not accomplishment. Only with certainty can it be established as a reason for the existence of such a thing, then inference enters and it is possible to become a standard of measurement for things. If it is not so, then thinking will also become a standard of measurement. The understanding of things produced only by desire, having the accomplishment of things made by other reasons, is a standard of measurement, so the standard of measurement for understanding the meaning of sound itself is no different. Therefore, the meaning is this: if it is not based on the necessity of grasping as the core, and only the word "vase" can understand its own meaning, then taking things like cupped hands nearby shows certainty nearby, and then it is said to be the combination of the word "vase". Similarly, things like what is called a "duster" should also be understood in the same way. Therefore, there is no doubt that one must rely on the grasp of certainty. From the intention to express, the grasp of language is certain. But it is not possible to establish the grasp of certainty for each word, if so, then for what is called "paksha-dharma" (ཕྱོགས་ཆོས་), it would become only "paksha" (ཕྱོགས་) of "dharma" (ཆོས་). Therefore, in order to eliminate words such as "knowable", what is said is "thus". What is called "belonging to convention" is combined for the purpose of understanding other things, because establishing different sounds is only for the purpose of making other things understood. This avoids the fault of not needing to distinguish. Like this, if others also only understand something as "knowable", then combining "that" as the meaning of understanding is meaningless. However, if it is not understood, then at that time the thing that becomes the object of doubt is only understood as something else, therefore, what should be distinguished is precisely the non-"knowable" that is imputed by it. Just as this dharma arises from sound, similarly, what should be distinguished is also made by its mind, but it does not exist outside. That is what is said.
