Therefore, by showing the object that cannot be cognized and rejecting it, based on how it is established, even if this is rejected by explaining the scriptures, it is as if it has not been rejected, and they argue about it. Now, how is it the same fault? This is what is thought: Although the establishment of a tree is complete, if it is not, then the sounds of tree and so on, because they turn out to be determined by the object, and the sounds of asha (aṣa) and so on, the meanings of many things are not all meanings, so it is necessary to grasp and rely on the meaning, and because it is necessary to grasp, it also rejects other things, so how can it not become interdependent? If you say that the nature of grasping by one's own establishment, in the two of tree and non-tree, grasping one and rejecting the other, so it does not depend on each other? Trees and non-trees, etc., cannot be known only by distinction, so they are the objects of direct perception, how can they be the nature that is not grasped by self-establishment? Therefore, the nature of the tree that appears in front of us, by the power of direct perception, returns from the non-tree, then how can it become interdependent? This should also be clarified in the commentary. Showing one's own nature is to say that the fault of speech is said for the distinction between grasping and not grasping. Now, here, by showing that there is no fault even if the other party makes a distinction, it is said that what is turned back from seeing. If a distinction is made, how is it known? This is only a tree, knowing the tree in this way, is dependent on knowing the non-tree, and knowing the non-tree is also dependent on knowing the tree, so how can it be established by distinguishing the non-tree, it is the fault of speaking of distinction. This fault does not exist, why? Because when enlightenment is completed by relying on the tree, it is easy to know by turning back from it, how can it not become the establishment of the tree by distinction? And how is it easy to know by turning back from what appears? It is said: In this way, seeing one part, and in the other, because that is the other, determining that it does not match those dharmas, separating from that, separating and establishing, is born, thus connected.

The reason is said to be because of experiencing a mind devoid of that form in other things. This is what is said, when a definite form of realization grasps certain things, because the mind with that form does not grasp the opposite of it. It is important to recognize it as something else, if it is not something else, it would fall into being grasped by the knowledge with that form. Thus, by proving that it is important to recognize the opposite from what is seen. In order to prove that this is without fault, it is said, because of clearly knowing "this is the tree", when abandoning the opposite of it, and realizing "this is a tree", then abandoning the realization of the opposite, only things that have and do not have that form will enter. Therefore, for a tree, it itself is the object of realization, for a non-tree, by realizing the opposite of it, therefore, either "this is the only one" or "this is also" realization is possible, what was said before is without fault. For those who say that they have the object of distinction, this situation is not possible, what is said is for those who say distinction. Here, merely by establishing non-trees, one can also realize, therefore, the distinction between trees and non-trees that are realized by themselves, and trees and non-trees that take the opposite as their object, in one knowledge, calling the other distinction is possible, because if one realizes one's own nature, distinction is possible. For those who say to exclude others, there is no conceptualization of merely realizing trees and non-trees. If one realizes a tree through what is seen, and then through conceptualization, one realizes by distinguishing what is opposite to oneself, then, it is not like that, what is said is because the clarity of realizing a tree through what is seen will not become realizing other things. The reason given is: for one seen. Thus, even if there is distinction, because of saying establishment, it shows that there is no mutual dependence, therefore, the teacher also abandoned his own tenet, so he said "then". For realizing one form of a tree, not realizing the abiding realization, realizing its cause and non-cause, becoming its object and non-object, becoming the nature of tree and non-tree, making distinctions. This is what is said
