It is a habit, because it arises from its power. If it were not for that, it would not become conceptual thought, because it is the wisdom of non-conceptualization, so how could it be attached to the general? If it relies on the habit of conceptual thought, it will become conceptual thought as it is. If someone thinks that conceptual thought arises from awareness, even without an object, it is because the consciousness before conceptual thought has been produced as a cause from beginningless time, then where is this understood? Although all consciousnesses rely solely on objects, however, due to similarities and other reasons, confusion arises, just like the knowledge of water. To eliminate this doubt, it is said, "Only to external objects." For example, things that are disturbed, such as sounds, even if there is no difference relying on objects, just as they arise in the internal blur, if these natures of ignorance arise only from internal differences, what contradiction is there? Isn't it that there is nothing to establish? How could there not be? Because when the true object is blocked, the arising of conceptual thought merely following the previous consciousness is established. Even without an object, if conceptual consciousness can arise following the previous consciousness, then eye consciousness and so on will also become like this. To explain what is the use of arising from object, faculty, and attention, it is said, "Because it arises from ignorance." This is not to abandon it. Blocking the object of conceptual thoughts, because the habit of conceptual thought is considered the cause, the habit of conceptual thought itself is considered ignorance. Therefore, if root consciousness arises from the habit of conceptual thought, then if it only becomes conceptual thought, because there is no conceptual thought, these are not produced from ignorance, therefore it is a disturbance. Conceptual thought itself is ignorance, which refers to calling the habit of conceptual thought itself conceptual thought. Then, will the conceptual consciousnesses of the senses also rely on habits because the subtle and coarse conceptual thoughts are endless and there is no object? To eliminate this doubt, it is said, "Or." If

If the consciousnesses of the senses are not of the nature of being uncorrupted, then in that case, if it is admitted that this inference would become a fault for them, then this inference is not a fault, therefore there is no fault. The reason for explaining that there is no fault is because it is called 'non-duality.' In reality, this is merely consciousness, but due to the power of illusion, it appears as the nature of knowing blue. If there exist things such as blue and non-blue, then these things are merely things, therefore they would become the nature of knowing blue, therefore it is not non-duality, because the aspect of blue is also their true existence. If that does not exist, then it is the very nature of non-duality. If the consciousnesses of the eyes, etc., are indeed corrupted, then how are they counted among valid cognitions? Therefore, it is said, even though everything is indeed corrupted. If all consciousnesses are only corrupted, even so, there is only the establishment of valid cognition and appearance. Therefore, these are reasonable to be counted among valid cognitions. How are valid cognition and appearance established in what is corrupted? It is explained that as long as it remains, the habit, which is the cause of the appearance of duality, until the ultimate cessation of its reversal, because it is not deceiving for the desire to manifestly achieve what is fit to be done, because the object to be done exists. For example, even if all consciousnesses are corrupted, as long as one has not gone beyond the habit of duality, so long as the desire to manifestly achieve what is fit to be done, the object of fire, such as cooking, burning, and the satisfaction produced by eating food, and the alleviation of suffering by drinking, exists. Therefore, this kind of consciousness is valid cognition. For example, when the consciousness of fire, etc., continuously arises, there arises the consciousness of the nature of eliminating the suffering of hunger. Other than valid cognition, because it is valid cognition, a consciousness with such characteristics is valid cognition. Wherever the continuum of the consciousnesses of fire, etc., does not universally operate in this way, then the opposite of that is not valid cognition. Therefore, this is the common characteristic of worldly perception and non-perception. Again, for what purpose is this established? Therefore, it is said, even though it is corrupted. What is done by corruption also becomes a limb in some cases.
