Moreover, the appearance of things with commonality does not exist. However, it is merely fabricated there. How to dispel it? Therefore, it is said, "In that." Relying on other things to enter other things will be dominated by other things. For contradiction, there is no difference. Thus, if the commonality itself is the object, because there is no indication of its own nature, then at that time, fabricating there and entering its own nature will not be established, because even if fabricated, it is only the commonality itself that is the object, so it becomes dominated by its other, so it will not become another object. Therefore, the meaning of fabrication is also unreasonable. The word "etc." should be understood as other content spoken by the teacher. If contradiction is not another thing, then what is it? Therefore, it is said, "Both." The words of contradiction and opposition both express only their own nature of their own essence. Now, what is the difference from the aspect of having an object to be established? It is only the aspect of having an object of eliminating others. What is meant by eliminating others? If it is the meaning of having the characteristic of contradiction, then what is the contradiction that becomes the characteristic? For it, there is no other thing, and there is nothing that becomes the characteristic. However, it is only the meaning of abiding in one's own nature. In that case, the one with the object of establishment should also take it as the object, and nothing else. Therefore, direct perception is also just such an object. If its object nature becomes the object of elimination, then it will also become the object of elimination. Therefore, the function of consciousness is acknowledged as the object of things, and it does not go beyond the object of establishment. Here it is said: The consciousness that thinks "This is not blue" is, in reality, the object of distinguishing the consciousness of blue and so on. Thus, here, the meaning of negation becomes a branch, therefore, the nature of such understanding itself is what is excluded. Therefore, this consciousness knows the self-nature through the way of fabricating non-blue and mixing opposition, so it is said to have a distinguishing object. Similarly, for the consciousness of blue and so on, fabricating non-blue on blue and so on, and opposing it.

In reality, those cognitions that realize becoming the object of things also rely on the clinging of the cognizer to make distinctions, and are therefore said to be cognitions that have the object of exclusion. Therefore, that thing will also be excluded, just as the direction itself is without a pot. Even if it is different from its own nature, it will be confused by the power of clinging, so at that time it will be mistakenly thought that there is no blue. Therefore, this thing that is different from others becomes the object, so the conceptual thought is called having a different object, but it is not manifest, because it is recognized by the very nature of the thing that abides only in its own nature. Therefore, the conceptual thought of the object of self-nature itself is not, as the evil-minded ones think, having the object of excluding others. Because the object of distinction of the distinguishing thought of the object of self-nature itself is reasonable. If the self-nature itself is the exclusion that is recognized through the way of excluding others, then the teacher Dharmakirti's promise of the excluder of others as the characteristic of the universal will become unreasonable. That is what is said, "Now." Since one different thing does not follow another, by using the word "one," relative to that, the second is the other. Therefore, since one thing does not follow the second, how can it be said that being different from others is a universal? If excluding others is the self-nature of the different thing, then the different thing will also not follow other different things. Since not following is also not the self-nature of the universal, then how is it the universal of excluding others? It should be examined by excluding what universal this should be declared. This does not correspond to the nature of the particular. If someone objects that because it is refuted by things such as "the meaning of sound is the special spoken and the speaker is not what is desired," in order to avoid this, it is said "in his mind." Because in the mind that is different from others, the self-nature of the universal will appear. What is "something"? It is related to what is called "in his mind," because in that person's mind, that thing will appear that way.
