If asked, why not argue that everything is grasped? It cannot be argued that way, because the opponent who says there is no difference in meaning does not have a partial grasp on his own side either, so it must be admitted that the cause of becoming the dharma of meaning is directly realized, and since it grasps the cause, how can it not lead to grasping the effect? When grasping the effect, it will also lead to grasping the cause. If it is said that there, the cause is grasped as the nature of benefiting the effect, and the effect is not grasped, then how can grasping what benefits the difference grasp the difference? This fault does not exist. From then on, grasping what is related is called not being confused on that branch itself, which is the dharma of discrimination, not the nature of experience, because it grasps its own nature as it is. The nature of things does not depend on other natures. Therefore, since the cause is ultimately accomplished only by things, the nature of the cause does not depend on the effect, and similarly, its grasping does not depend on the difference of the effect of the consciousness of the nature of the cause alone. Discrimination is that when the individual aspects of fire, etc., are not established as causes by others, the aspects of fire, etc., known by the discrimination of fire, etc., know the differences distinguished by the differences of the effect. Therefore, this is only the fault of discrimination, not the fault of direct perception. These outsiders do not understand that the knowing actions of discrimination and experience are different, so they argue in this way. If it is admitted that discrimination grasps the uncertain, then now not only discrimination, but also how do all direct perceptions grasp the uncertain? Because for it, there is no other determining action. Therefore, how can what you say, such as the self-nature of meaning is one, etc., not be contradictory? If asked, since all the self-natures of meaning, such as moments, are not certain, how can they be grasped? To dispel it, it is said: Direct perception does not determine anything, but determines discrimination.

It is not an action. Manifest cognition does not make any distinctions, so manifest cognition does not have the action of knowledge together with distinctions. If so, how does it become knowledge? It is said, "By that," that is, manifest cognition. What is grasped by that is also not definite. If so, what is it? Whatever is said to be grasped by that is due to appearance. This is said, that is, things are wisdom, because things are clear. There is no other action than this. It will not become clear without being grasped by the Dharma of clarity, because that is the nature of wisdom alone. What is grasped by the Dharma of wisdom is also wisdom itself, therefore it is blue. Because it becomes wisdom as the aspect appears, therefore blue is clear. The very appearance is because it is another situation, because it contradicts becoming one's own state like ability. That is also because whatever is said to be "clear," by that it becomes like that, therefore this is the wisdom of meaning, therefore this grasps things by appearance. Has it not already been said that manifest cognition is not a determiner of anything? If so, why is it said again that it is not definite? If it is said that manifest cognition is not a determiner of anything, then others will understand that manifest cognition is separated from the action of wisdom. Therefore, by "what is grasped by that" it shows the establishment of the nature of wisdom, by "it is not definite" it prevents the unwanted, and by "it appears by that" it shows how the nature of hope appears. Therefore, whatever is said, "How can the uncertain also be grasped by manifest cognition?" is said to be unreasonable. Showing that point is "therefore it is definite." Whatever is definite is grasped. Whatever is uncertain is not grasped, this does not exist. If combined with the reasoning as stated, then the wisdom of the discriminating mind, blue, etc., itself cannot be without the aspect of blue, etc., because for it, blue, etc., which have become objects, cannot appear elsewhere. If it is possible, then manifest cognition will also become wisdom without appearance, why not?
