Even if there is no (smoke), it exists if there is fire. Just as it exists when other things exist, because it has an irreversible nature, the thing itself has the self-nature of existence, therefore, just as it transcends the fruit of fire, it also transcends the fruit of other things. Even if there is fire, because that (smoke) exists, there is no meaning of birth for this (smoke) to obtain a previously non-existent existence, therefore it is unreasonable to obtain existence from other things. None of the causes of things are different from their own nature. Therefore, if the appearance of fire itself is the cause, then the appearance of other things is not the cause. If other appearances are the cause, then the appearance of fire is not the cause of smoke. Therefore, if it is to produce other things, or if that (cause) becomes like that, then how can it arise from the nature that is not the producer of that other thing? Any explanation of reason, because it is not the nature of self-production, it does not produce, therefore birth becomes causeless. When one thing has the nature of producing, and it is not the nature of producing other things, then, there, the existence of this (thing) becomes causeless. It is impossible to obtain self from that (causeless), and that (causeless) also does not exist, therefore it is causeless. If this (thing) exists without cause, then uniquely, there are only causeless things here. Therefore, that (thing) is also causeless because it has not been established as a cause. To this, someone says that smoke exists, because when other things exist, it also exists, just as Lhas Byin exists at home and also exists outside, saying that this (smoke) was not born there, when there is fire, it exists from a previously non-existent state, because it has obtained a previously non-existent existence, so the smoke that is born is not that (previously non-existent smoke) itself, however, what appears there is other smoke that is similar to that (previously non-existent smoke) and the same as that (previously non-existent smoke). If it is only that one smoke, from a state that has not appeared before, is proven to exist by fire, then, for that (smoke), the meaning of birth is reasonable, and the cause is also produced. Therefore, for that smoke, it is the nature of producing itself, and producing other smoke is other. Therefore, the things of cause and effect are reasonable, so it is not falling into the fault of causelessness. Because it is the fruit, it is without confusion, so it is said.

That 'that' is clear. Because this is not established without confusion by relying on one's own one characteristic. Because inference cannot be made from just one. If it is said that it is not in the concordant side, the answer is: because it comes from the dissimilar. How can the dissimilar arise from the nature of non-fire be the same as that? Just like this, that is because it comes from being the same as that. From what kind of thing is smoke seen once? Because it comes from being similar to that, it becomes similar to that. Smoke itself becomes similar. Just one meaning, how can the other born from what kind of cause be similar to that? What is called 'similar'? This one is smoke, and this other is also smoke, what is it that is not a vase that needs to be shown? From that similar, it becomes that similar, not another similar. If you say, what is the reason for this? If the other kinds of fruit are not the same, then is it not unreasonable for the same and different kinds of the same kind to be without reason? Because things are just that nature, the cause of things is its cause, so reason. Therefore, because the causes are different, the nature of rice and barley sprouts is different, which comes from different causes. Those with the same cause, the similarity of rice sprouts also comes from the same cause. If the nature produced by different things is also the same, then that different cause becomes non-existent, so the thing itself becomes without cause. What is said here is that although similarity and dissimilarity have reasons, they are not the cause of the same kind, because even if it is born from a different kind, it is not the fault of becoming without cause. Non-smoke arises from fire, so it arises from different smoke, so it is born from that different itself. Therefore, if from non-fire, it also becomes different smoke from non-smoke, then also abandon that different cause, because it also arises from other causes, so because the cause is confused, it becomes without cause. No, if you abandon non-confusion, because it is not its cause, it is not confusing. Its cause, for that which is not confused, what is said is still not established. Therefore, it is confusion.
