It is said that "therefore, inference is also impossible." This refers to the fact that the very nature of impermanence, or something else that arises from something else, becomes the very cause that accomplishes what is made, etc., because what is made arises from it. Therefore, inference is made here, or because what is made arises, it must be a result. It is said in this way that, for the time being, according to the previously stated reasoning, impermanence itself arises from other things and exists in other things. The connection between the reasons for inference becomes even closer, so it changes in this way. If you say, "How can you not doubt that neither cause nor effect exists?" this is self-exclusion. Whatever is neither a cause nor an effect, because there is no connection, the way of thinking as previously stated is reasonable. If there is no connection, what contradiction is there with the current topic? For things that are neither cause nor effect, because there is no connection, it is impossible to infer their existence from seeing the sign. Therefore, both possibilities should be doubted. In the case where cause and effect are possible, it is not a cause for the time being, because it arises later. Whatever is considered to be "made," the very impermanence that arises later from other causes is not its cause, because it arises later. This is in consideration of the established meaning, because it comes into existence later. For things that are already established by their nature, there is no cause. Therefore, what arises later is not a cause. If it is also considered that what has already been established is related to subsequent things, therefore it is a result, because the nature of the result is obtained from the establishment of the cause itself, then how can this be determined? Is the result determined from obstacles? Is the result a wave of obstacles? Such a determination of self-nature does not exist. Therefore, because it is a result, there is no certainty, and it is impossible to infer this. After the Dharma of impermanence, etc., and the things such as what is made are established, from what does the thing that is established later change? Does it arise from another thing that is different from it? This shows that it has already been established, so it is the Sutra.

The subsequent words explain that it is the cause of things that have already been established. If it is said, "Where is the certainty in the effect?", this means that the effect is not necessarily dependent on the cause. That is, it is not the case that if there is a cause, there must be an effect. If it is said that an effect that depends on conditions is not necessarily dependent on a cause, then what will happen? The answer is: the reason that makes one understand the existence of the effect itself is uncertain. When people say that the reason that makes one understand the existence of the effect is uncertain, then the cause also becomes incomprehensible. The object of the effect is what is being spoken of at the moment. Through inference, one can understand the inference of existence. If it is said that this effect does not necessarily have a cause, then, for the effect to be inferred, the cause is uncertain. Because it is not so, therefore, the dharma with the reason of other meanings, because it does not necessarily exist, cannot be inferred to exist, that is, there is no sign, this is the conclusion. Like this, up to this point, therefore, because it is visible, and if it does not exist, it will not arise, so it is summarized into the three aspects. It has been established "How many natures does the cause have?" etc., and the thesis of these three is explained. Through "the cause is not complete" etc., and "not seen in dissimilar instances" etc., by showing the way of seemingly valid reasons, the root of the visible and invisible, that is, the root of the relation of inverse precedence, is explained. The effect is related to the nature of the cause, and the essence is the nature, which is established through the detailed explanation of the relation. Although that is the unerring root of relation, it is necessary to explain by what valid cognition it is established. First, according to the order of explanation of the thesis, first, the explanation is mainly based on the reason of the effect, that is, "Then, if" etc. The concomitance and inverse are established through the visible and invisible, which is a refutation. If it is said that smoke is the effect of fire, even so, where there is smoke, there is fire, and where there is no fire, there is no smoke, that is how it is.
