When arising in other aggregates, a thing arises from another thing, its cause is different, that is why their causes are different. Difference has two forms: manifestation difference, and equal and unequal share difference. Among them, when acting as the cause of something, that which does not act as the cause of the thing, whether it is similar reasoning or dissimilar reasoning, is excellent, it must be manifestation difference. Question: This is exactly what applies to the present. Different kinds arise from different kinds, this will be explained. Therefore, what is established itself will not become unestablished, therefore, what is established and unestablished are different. If something obtains its own nature from the power of the cause, then anything that transforms from other causes is also merely different. They are different, how is this understood? If it is said that it is understood by valid cognition, then, the valid cognition that can ascertain all things does not exist, because it is merely the establishment of consciousness, and also, non-consciousness cannot understand the certainty similar to consciousness, therefore, for non-omniscient beings, there is no all-consciousness. Therefore, in some cases, what is established and unestablished are considered different, but in other cases, this is not the case. Therefore, if it is said that valid cognition understands as it is, it will not consider the contradictory dharmas as different, then, what is to be said here is: this is the way things exist, not the function of valid cognition. For the understanding of existence and distinction, the function of direct perception and inference will intervene. Things are like this, whatever is said like this is the way things exist, for example, whatever is created is impermanent. If the way things exist is not clear itself, and what makes it clear is valid cognition, then, it becomes that what is observed must be accepted as it is. Things are like this, even without taking knowledge as an object, it is unreasonable for oneself to appear. Without valid cognition, the existence of things cannot be established. Here, be sure to remember: is what is established at that time, and what is established at other times, recognized by the same cognition, or not recognized? If not recognized, then,

Then, this would become the absurd conclusion of having no valid cognition (pramana) itself. If it is said that the various conceptualizations themselves are not object-oriented towards things, therefore they do not understand things at all, that is not correct, because they cling to appearances, and because they rely on such experience, even if they are not ultimate understanding, they will be proven to be understanding. However, if they are understanding, then this state of being in understanding can definitely be examined. Since conceptualizations arise merely dependent on intention, as long as intention follows, it is necessary to examine this understanding, that "this object is like this." Precisely because of this, it is said that the state of being mixed with speech itself is conceptualization. Therefore, just as we determine "this is its expression," we also determine those dharmas that are not our own essence. If this determined "I" is its essence, then since knowledge itself is knowledge, what need is there for other determinations? If it is not its essence, then it is merely an assumption, and if it is not so when distinguishing its essence, then how is it? Merely because of clinging to excessive speech, even if conceptualization merely relies on dharma, when a certain dharma is the essence of another dharma, even if it is not understood, when such a nature of dharma exists in understanding, this understanding can become the object of other understanding, even if it does not understand itself. Just as directly experiencing blue, taking indivisible things as objects, since it exists in the understanding controlled by the experiencer, therefore it is necessarily the nature to be examined, then, since conceptualizations have external objects, even if the universal nature is not definite, even if the appearing blue appears as one nature, and does not appear as following its own essence or other essence, therefore it is not the universal nature, therefore in this nature there exists the emptiness of universality, just like determining the distinction of its nature. Therefore, even if the form of the dharma that appears as the nature of other dharmas cannot be distinguished, even if it does not appear, it arises from discrimination.
