It is not. That is, without such, as a thing that possesses characteristics, it appears in connection with those. Such determination also prevents relying on external objects themselves. Therefore, there is no difference between saying that a pot does not exist and preventing the existence of a visible pot. Sometimes, it is permissible to transform the negation by thousands of differences, such as saying that a person does not exist, or sometimes saying that there is no white-clothed person. When establishing that any object does not exist, whether that object becomes with or without difference, it is established as the object itself. When establishing something with a difference, that difference is not established by other means. However, just as when one recognizes the smoke of sandalwood, the fire there is established from that smoke itself, establishing that a visible pot does not exist is the non-perception of what is visible. Here, it is only necessary to say this much, because the unestablished reason is not a part of the proof, so what that reason is like depends on being established as its own nature, just like the smoke of sandalwood. Therefore, examining how the visible is established here is not examining how a pot of a kind is visible. Among the things apprehended by one consciousness, if one is seen and another is not seen, it is only established as what is called the non-perception of what is visible. The reason itself, which is the difference of the difference as previously stated, is without error. When showing that it is not another reason, explaining the result of the specially established difference is, "If it exists." If the pot exists, it is not non-existent. At that time, it would only become existence, which is the characteristic of being seen, it would only become visible, not invisible. Because this, which is the characteristic of being seen, is itself what is seen, therefore here, the object to be established, non-existence, does not become the characteristic of the existence of an object. The object that is the characteristic of being seen is spoken of in relation to direct perception. If it exists, it would only become direct perception, therefore here it would not become non-perception, because there is cognition. Therefore,

Therefore, reasoning with reasons is without error. Therefore, it is said, "Therefore." The thought is this: What is called "becoming the characteristic of the object" here refers to grasping the definite self-nature of things. Becoming the characteristic of the object refers to the observable thing with a special self-nature taken by the object, therefore, whatever self-nature is taken by seeing is determined as the reason for seeing, how can it exist without seeing? Therefore, when there is no confusion about the object, it is to determine the self-nature of the special thing. If it is not there, because there is no determination of the self-nature of things that follows, even the existing things will not be objectified. If the non-objectification of things is not the reason for establishing the non-existence of things, therefore, here also because things are established from things themselves, and it does not go beyond the result and self-nature, therefore, the result and self-nature themselves are suitable to be established as their own established Dharma, not non-objectification. Therefore, it is said, "From that." As mentioned above, among the three reasons indicated, the result and self-nature are the two that establish things, these two are "There is fire here," "This is a tree," establishing things. However, for the situation where one wants to know that something does not exist, these two are not suitable for application. Therefore, for the measurable things such as the non-existence of a pot, these two cannot be applied, so the reason for refutation is established separately. If it is not like this, it cannot be known. That is also non-objectification. However, from where the refutation here is known, that itself is the refutation that follows the worldly discriminations with other meanings, therefore, it will show that it has not retreated from the establishment of things themselves. Therefore, because it is necessary to explain the contents contained in the three ways that are so determined, because the Dharma nature can be known by direct perception and so on, in order to show the following and the reverse, the three ways are briefly summarized into three, thus showing these three. Now, in order to show how it is established on the three, so it says self-nature.
