It is the various kinds of close examination, not other examinations. Whatever is the nature of many things, that is the distinctness of the examination that grasps its distinctness. Therefore, it depends on the eye and so on. For example, abandoning the group of buffaloes and following the herd of cows is abandoning that and realizing that this is consciousness. If one says, "I know the similar nature of these," that is not knowing closely, because those things themselves that are in the distance are not close, and like a comb, it is not knowing closely, but superimposing non-distinctness on those distinct appearances is delusion. These alone are the objects of cognition, not universals and so on. By what does one grasp it and become a direct perceiver? This meaning is that if, with doubts such as "non-conceptual," with "the nature of many things as the subject of dharma," etc., direct perception grasps the object that turns away from everything, and the subsequent conceptualization discriminates between the subject of dharma and the dharma, etc., it has been shown that following convention is "the nature of many things." If one says, "How does one understand the distinction between the thing to be distinguished and the nature of the distinction?" oneself is to be known, it is to be known by one's own nature. If one thinks that examining the opposite is also established by that (own nature), then one says "non-indicative," which indicates that it is not an object of cognition by its very nature of being non-indicative. Just like the objects of the five senses, form and so on, is that not also its dharma? If one says, "How can it be that there is no cognition that grasps it?" one mentions "mutually dependent," which is understanding that form and taste, etc., do not mutually possess each other, but are not one basis, meaning not one. If one thinks, "When seeing, I touched it," is this certainty that follows the action of seeing and touching, is it one nature of form and touch, etc.? Or is it not taking its one basis as an object? one says, "If I see." It is not seeing as conceptualization is, because it is too extreme. Then what is it?

That, showing that "suchness itself is" is saying: it is not, it is called "recognition". Among them, showing that habituation arises as it is, not relying on seeing, is called "umbrella and touch". Showing that following after this seeing itself is, eye consciousness is only knowing form, it should be connected like this. Touch is also, entering is also, therefore it is touch-entering, because it does not exist. It is called "of what". "Because of touching, it is touch, touch is also, the object is also that". When that is touch, this is also clearly shown in it, because what is the power of connection of what is transformed, the seeing and touching consciousness, the objects are different from each other, from the inner object itself, it is inferred and known, and, the meaning of weakening the difference. If, seeing and touching, such an action is understood, then it is not seeing, what is it? It is the direct perception of the mind, because the mind is the root, therefore, it is the oneness of it or the oneness of the support that is established as such, thinking like this is, however, that which is done by its own nature. The nature of not deceiving, that is, the nature of not deceiving, is not known by direct perception, because the direct perception of seeing and touching is because it has a definite object, as shown, what is seeing. The color nature of the color that is not distinguished by seeing, etc., like a golden vase, is it not the only one with limbs? Thinking like this, colors, etc. are different, being able to see colors is also different, is the meaning of many natures. The color that cannot be distinguished belongs to the category of one consciousness, showing that it is not an external object is, thus, color is what should be known by oneself. Discrimination is clinging to the object of the root, and, showing that it is not known like the consciousness of not being that is, recognition is not all nature. The "also" here refers to discrimination. Because it does not match the direct perception, it is the difference of direct perception, discrimination is not.
