Similarly, the knowledge of variegated things and so on, which are different in characteristics from other things, are not mutually different in characteristics. The reasons for such certainty are that certainty is what makes it so certain. Because that which arises from the meaning of a nature that is different in characteristics from others is what makes it so certain. Other characteristics that are not its result are separate, being the nature of repelling or repellers, and following it is its manifestation, because what is not other is not a generality, that is, not manifest. The explanation of this is that there is no single thing, because the manifest thing does not follow. What is called relying on meaning is through the distinction of meditation. By the reasoning of "pleasure, etc., are not the nature of meaning." What is called "that itself" is suffering itself. What is called "both natures" is that which possesses the nature of pleasure and suffering. If one does not see the meaning of the nature of both, one will certainly grasp, saying, "It is not the determiner," which is called "determiner." What is called "many discriminations" is not seeing the thing that possesses the nature of pleasure and suffering, and also the certainty produced by it. The explanation of this is what is called "pleasure, etc." The understanding on the side of the agent is also explained, that is, what is called "for understanding to be established." What is called "the nature of following" is from the nature of following that grasps as the supreme of non-difference. The meaning of generality is necessity. What accomplishes it is certainty. If one acknowledges the thing of generality, one must acknowledge the habit of the one who grasps as certain, which is explained by what is called "what is the cause." Indeed, one appearance, the other is only understanding. What is called "appearing as non-different from aggregation" is what is called "by aggregation." The explanation of this is that mixing by aggregation is not so, because it is invisible. No, meeting aggregation is also so. What cannot be understood is both. Whatever is the result of single certainty, etc., is their nature, that is, there is only understanding, these are only answers.

It is so. Saying "its fruit is the general" means that the general is called general. For each explicandum that has certainty, like the cow itself is the general, but its fruit is not, because each one does not possess it. What is shown as "it is not so" means that it is called the cow itself. What is said as "because of not mixing differences" means that clinging to it does not ascertain the differences, because it does not cling to the differences as if they were directly perceived. The general is not existent, it is non-apprehension. What is said as "if analyzed" means that it is through certain knowledge of the function of direct perception. Knowing that the nature of variegated things, etc., is the nature of negation. Therefore, what is shown as having its aspect is, it is called "this is a cow." What is said as "through the appearing consciousness" means through direct perception. On the side where the aspect of things is produced by habit, if that consciousness is an opponent to consciousness, etc., but not this side. Therefore, what is said as "therefore" means that it is because it does not deceive things. Its fruit is the ability, or not its fruit, is the elimination of these also not apprehended by conceptual thought as if by direct perception? The aspect of conceptual thought, although not the object of sound as if grasped by direct perception, but it clings to its object, what is shown is, "eliminating the external power." For those who are its ultimate, it refers to those who cling to the external world in a reversed manner. Because of particularly clinging to the object of eliminating others, sound is the eliminator of others, and it is the statement of entering into its own meaning and the object of reversing, what is shown is, it is called "the ultimate of the external world," one who particularly clings to the external world is not non-different from the external world, because it does not appear as if by direct perception. For the function of understanding, is it not that the external object that is particularly clung to does not appear? Although the nature of mind appears as if by direct perception, it is not an object of clinging. Thinking that there is no expressible object other than the external world and consciousness is, "the object of conceptual thought is from the mind." What is shown here is not, it is merely appearing as different. What is said as "because it is not its characteristic" means that it is because it is different.
