Merely seeing the own-characteristic is the object of cognition by the self that differentiates from others. Is not one's own characteristic not apparent to the discrimination by one's own entity? Even if it is not, to show that it will become discrimination, it is called the nature of discrimination. Just as one knows that discrimination is different from others, so too, thinking that it is also different from what is not common to it, just as one realizes that it has no other, so too, to show that it is not non-existent, it is one's own mind. It is only devoid of others, but to say that it is not common is another order. It is not that one realizes that it is non-existent because it is not common, that is the meaning. As for "having genus, not having genus," and so forth, generally speaking, although it is not that there are different or non-different entities, in the mind of the general characteristic that is without essence, "being the general characteristic" means that from the point of view of seeing one's own entity, it is not the general characteristic. Even if there is no general characteristic, the mind that appears as the general characteristic is like the mind that appears as silver even though there is no silver. Because one grasps as that which is not it, one is confused about the meaning. Just as one takes a fish bladder for silver, thinking that it is a general characteristic, that is also because one is deceived, that is, because one is fabricated. It is not merely from that point, and whatever things are without essence, that is also a general characteristic, because one is deceived. The meaning of "this also" is the word "also." Although this has no general characteristic, how does one promise that there is no own-nature? To summarize this, it is said to be "in that." As for "because seeing is the general characteristic," for the mind of the general characteristic, it refers to the meaning of realization, the mind that appears as the general characteristic is called the mind of the general characteristic. In relation, for those without essence, it is precisely without aspect. In the mind of the general characteristic, "because seeing is the general characteristic," it is because it appears as the general characteristic. This "also" is the meaning of possibility. If it becomes without aspect, that is the meaning. For my explanation, there is no difference between having aspect and being without aspect, the rest is the same. Because it cannot be expressed by "having genus, not having genus," and so forth, it is shown to be without own-nature. Therefore, for the general mind of meaningless things without essence
