What is shown is called "that which does not have that." If there is distinction in conventional truth, then why is the distinction of things like dharma not established for all things? If someone says that, then it is said to be in ultimate truth. "Thatness" refers to oneness, which is the manifestation of genus, such as a cow. "Otherness" refers to the very nature of a cow, and should be connected with the word "preclusion." Why? Because it is not established from direct perception. If you ask where it exists, that is, where does it exist in the connection itself? It exists in the conventional. Such recognition from the conceptual habit of discrimination is the view of the Victorious Ones. Other schools say that in ultimate truth, it exists in each determined state, and because it relies on that, it will be precluded in conventional truth. "Clinging to the very nature of manifestation, and not to others, that is, clinging to non-difference," is what is known as fame. Because in ultimate truth, through analytical observation, such a state is not established in the objects of direct perception, therefore the distinction of things like dharma is not established. "Otherness will be clearly precluded." Because it is established in discrimination, it is thatness, but due to contradictory reasons, it will preclude non-thatness. If it is not that reason, then it is otherness, which is said in the commentary. By "existing in conventional truth," etc., thatness is precluded, therefore, "otherness" is otherness. These are all conventional truths, and because there is no direct perception, it shows that there is no inference for these, that is, "having direct perception as a precursor." The nature of the proof is the nature of the subject, etc. "The nature of abiding in conventional truth" means existing in conventional truth itself. "Direct perception" means only manifestation, not dharma, etc., that is, it shows "in thatness." "From that" means from the nature of manifestation. "Not recognizing the difference" means not being able to recognize the manifestation. Because there is no completeness, there is no realization. Showing that the general characteristic of the nature of dharma and non-dharma, etc., is the very nature of a cow, that is, "therefore, the general characteristic." If one sees a contradictory manifestation, then in wisdom, that is, when wisdom arises, the result of entering into manifestation
