It is called "Where is it?". Saying "In the meaning of following, it is that abandoning it does not accomplish the benefit," it is called "harmed by valid cognition." "That" refers to the proponent or the opponent? Saying "If one does not know the appearance," it is because it harms the scriptures. Is it not the case that the proponent's words are accepted as valid cognition, and then other non-scriptural words that contradict them are abandoned? For example, the lord of beings gives a horse to the water god, and because the giver is diligent, whoever is the water god who takes the horse, he has been harmed, so the taker has declined. Thus, saying "accepting what contradicts that" is at the time of what is to be established. That is at the time of establishing. Decline is not true, because the author also has equal ability, this is saying the words that should follow the inference. If it is said, "However, the scriptures of the Vaisheshikas accomplish both," it is called "other than that." If, in addition to Buddhists, one accepts the tenets of the Vaisheshikas and Samkhyas, etc., then saying "that" abandons which branch difference of the Buddhists, that which should be abandoned is valid cognition, meaning that the nature of the reason and the concomitance, etc., are not accomplished. The commentary is clear. Saying "If not realized," if the true proof is not spoken. The fortunate one is also the capable one. Saying "this" is the answer. Therefore, showing that one's own realization can accomplish, and also accomplish others, is called "self-realization." If it is said, "What is that other than scripture?" it is called "reason," because accepting the validity of scripture has already been accomplished, because oneself does not have connection with meaning, etc., the validity of what is based on acceptance is that, if there is no that, it is because of acceptance. Saying "this also" is what is to be established, if one holds that, then the scripture of that object is also not valid cognition. In the commentary, it says "this also" is holding the tenet of the Buddhists. For the yogi who has the mind of establishing his own, there is also another valid cognition as the root for what is to be realized, by what is it accomplished, by cultivating it is shown to be a yogi.

Formerly, it was called the establisher. Formerly, when not a yogi, who, with those who have minds and others who establish, cultivate, then the senses are excellent, and realization arises, that is, understanding. Moreover, realization is a definitive statement, that is, diligently understanding. Others say it is direct perception. That is the Buddha's. The power of meaning is those with minds and others, actions, and so on. Others say it is the power of what is to be established and the establisher. If what is to be established is a being with a mind, why does it not have power? This is the Victorious One's. The senses are what is to be established, and what establishes it is the means. The knowledge of its power is also called power, which is not temporary, but what is seen by valid cognition is cultivated, and what manifests is the yogi, not others, this is the meaning. Just as the burning of fire establishes the heavenly realm, some say that it is known by being connected to unseen beings. Among them, it says, 'Whatever follows is completely cut off.' This means that the example does not grasp what follows. Are the senses and so on not completely cut off from following? If so, how is it established? To this it is said, 'In general.' The result is the establisher of the agent. The knowledge of pots and so on is also the same, so why is following seen? It is not by the impermanent beings with minds. Examining what is to be established and the establisher is examining what is to be known and the knower. The explanation is clear. 'Special' is connected to 'to be thought of.' What is promised has valid cognition as its root, why is what has 'special' as its root not also valid cognition? To this it is said, 'Person,' meaning that valid cognition is special, and the other itself is not valid cognition. By the power of thought, that is, merely by its power. 'Not itself' is the distinction between valid cognition and the other itself. 'Does not appear to change' means that according to the thought of some people, it is not valid cognition, therefore it is not a reason, and others, from realization, it is valid cognition, therefore it does not appear there. From where?
