The so-called "perverted consciousness" refers to recognizing things that are in different places and times as different from this. The so-called "non-existence" refers to not being certain in places, etc., but rather showing that other things appear as non-existent. Although seeing many things and remembering many things are consciousness itself, in order to show that it is not contrary to the side of remembering and forgetting, it is said to be "similar to it." It is not that all habits are only close at one moment; in order to show that the power of habits is not acknowledged, it is said to be "immediately following." In order to show that the nature of the wisdom of the previous moment, which is the brightest, gradually changes, it is said that "appearance is bright." The later wisdom is power, and the previous consciousness tends to appear to the later consciousness, even if it does not rely on seeing or other slight differences in seeing, it can produce that result, and even if the times are different, it can be seen to produce effects together. In order to show this, it is said to be "awakener," meaning that it is shown by the order of different results produced by the habit of power itself, or by the difference of awakening. The so-called "difference of power" refers to being no different from this, or also the nature of later wisdom. The so-called "having habit itself" refers to the nature of later wisdom. The so-called "without external experience, it is the habit of that place," if someone asks, "What is the reason for the difference of habits?" In order to show that if different natures such as blue do not appear, one should not be confused, it is said that "there is a reason for it," meaning that there are no different habits, because there is no different reason, this is to eliminate this statement. If different consciousnesses are the cause, then how does its difference arise? If it is said to arise from different habits, then it will lead to mutual dependence. Therefore, it is said: "Like that, mutually dependent." The so-called "not that" is used in conjunction with the word "producer." The so-called "is that" refers to the consciousness of the producer, such as seeds and sprouts, this is the answer. Is not the nature of cognition directly consciousness? Even so, since it is no different from the appearance of things themselves, it arises only from direct habits, therefore it will not cause consciousness to discriminate.
