In what way, in the realm of confusion, is it shown in the Pramāṇavārttika in other places that it is called "this is the statement." If it is said, "It is a rational statement," then because the consciousness of two moons should not be the nature of consciousness. What is called "the same as that" is the consciousness of two moons. What is called "if it changes" is when it does not change. What is called "right in this itself" is the change of the consciousness of two moons. The fault of becoming the nature of consciousness is explained as: what is called "the first is." The one with its own aspect comes from the sense faculty, and the one with the aspect of the object comes from the mind. Thinking that this distinction has no valid cognition is: what is called "if for this." The answer is: what is called "it is like that," that is, there is no valid cognition, and the distinction of appearing as two moons is also the same. What is called "at that time there is" is the consciousness of two moons itself. It itself is transformed by the transformation of the sense faculties such as cataracts, but it is not from others. The first is the consciousness of one moon. What is called "also depends on the sense faculty" is the first "also." What is called "if it is real" is the first consciousness of one moon. What is called "for others" is that the consciousness of two moons itself is real, not others, which means the consciousness of one moon. What is called "following after this" is the consciousness of two moons following after. What is called "that also" is the real consciousness of one moon. What is called "that also" is the first "also." What is called "just like this" is like the consciousness of two moons. What is called "without end" is too much. What is called "transformation" is through discrimination. What is called "does not transform" is like the illusion of permanence itself, meaning that some appearances of consciousness appear as two, but not three. The transformation of the sense faculty exists, and it is used in conjunction with "although." What is called "at what time" is if one discriminates, that is, when one fully discriminates. Mistaking it for a snake, although there is transformation, if one discriminates, is it not that there is no transformation? Blackness, etc., is because transformation or discrimination, etc., does not turn back. Or rather, it turns back with discrimination.

However, if one thinks that this is uncertain, that is what is called "such as black, etc." The statement "Which support, whatever it may be" clarifies that if it exists, it exists. This indicates that the illusion that can be examined will disappear. What is shown is that the nature of black, etc., arising from transformation, is like the knowledge of two moons, which is what is called "the appearance of black, etc." Among them, the word "of mind," what is called "of mind" is that which has distinctions. Indicating that merely mentioning non-distinction acknowledges its opposite, is what is called "with distinctions." Clinging to the appearance of harm is the illusion of a snake, and clinging to the appearance of benefit is the illusion of water, which is what is indicated by what is called "the appearance of benefit and harm." "Sleep or" indicates the clear appearance of the mind. What is called "when awake" refers to what arises from the senses. "Either one" refers to sleep and wakefulness. Therefore, this indicates an unclear appearance. Its function is the knowledge of two moons. What is called "even without distinction" is the obstruction of the pervasiveness of non-distinction in perception itself, which is what is called "accompanied by dimness." What is called "for the sake of deception" is because there is no common characteristic. In the context of the definition of validity, one's own nature turns away from non-validity, because it is not an illusion, etc., this is not something to which a category name can be applied, because the object to which a name is applied is validity itself, because it is perception, which is what is indicated by "other also," which is also something to which a name can be applied. Applying a name to other things, such as taking a conch shell for silver, this is also not a return, because clinging to non-illusion, so it is not the result of applying a name, therefore it arises from both, that is, from sound and the senses, nor is it a word to which a name can be applied, because it arises from sound, so it should not return, because arising from both is the establishment of any one.
