It is the place of exhaustion, such as earth. Just as meditating on aggregates such as objects and senses also shows that it clarifies consciousness. Those who are disturbed by desire, fear, and sorrow, and whose minds are tormented by thieves' nightmares and so on, are not real. Because the object itself has no effect, the effect of meditation becomes clear. "Is it like that?" is a famous example. To show that the absence of conceptualization and the clarity of one part, and the appearance of the other part itself are contradictory, it is said: "Connected with conceptualization and its retinue." Is being intoxicated by desire and closely defiled not the cause of clarity like a dream? If one thinks that meditation is not, then it is like in a dream. Because there is no difference in being closely defiled, the consciousness of unclear appearance will not change in a dream. "Meaningful" means clear appearance. "By the power of the object" means that approaching defilement is approaching symbolism. If one thinks that being deluded by desire and so on, what is seen in meditation is something else, and the appearance is also something else, is it not completely non-existent? If one thinks it does not exist, but if it is grasped by conceptualization, meditation will become clear, so it is said: "Impurity is exhausted." Taking emptiness and so on as objects is the practice of reality. To show that it is not something else, it is said: "It is not attention to reality." Merely meditating is not a yogi. Like outsiders, meditation that is led by intellectual thought is the reason for a yogi. To show that it is not without intellectual meaning, it is said: "Merely meditating is." Tranquility is one-pointedness of mind, and insight is wisdom. Their union is the knowledge of things as they are. To show that everything is not valid, because wisdom is the characteristic of discriminating dharmas. "For the sake of fruit" is for the sake of magical powers, walking from the sky especially liking the ground. Seeing some parts of the earth and so on, it will become complete while meditating.
