Indeed. Is non-apprehension also an elevation? It is not that doubt arises only in people. If so, what is it? Abandon one, and everything changes. From association, there is certainty about its distinction, but not about the general characteristic. Just as with distance, it would also follow that there is knowledge of it in proximity. Therefore, is the inverted constant in non-apprehension an elevation? It is not certain that it is a person, because it has not been determined. The nature of not being determined is the general characteristic, and the knowledge of it is also doubt. It should not be an overextension to the three realms, because it is determined to be a distinction by turning away from what is not it, but if the object is not determined, it belongs to the category. Therefore, it is shown that the very nature of mind, which is not its aspect, is the knowledge of doubt. Although it is what turns away from what is not it, it has not grasped the certainty of the distinction of the determined object. The common nature of things and non-things is doubt, because it is the cause of two minds, it is doubt, that is its meaning. Moreover, does it appear as non-apprehension by the nature of turning away from what is not it? Or, in relation to its distinction, is it also non-apprehension? It is called the nature of the object to be apprehended, that is, what is to be understood? Or, turning away from what is not it, not grasping the distinction, the nature of the appearance and the non-apprehension of one another is the cause of doubt, therefore it is doubt. If so, does the knowledge of doubt not arise from the object of the senses? It is not so. It is said that it arises from the power of the object of the senses that has a function, and is able to abide in proximity. It should not follow that doubt arises from what is not functional, from what arises from the power of abiding at a distance. Because the nature of abiding at a distance, like a mirage, has the ability to know in this way. The object of the senses follows it, so it is only capable of abiding in proximity. Moreover, it is shown that the eye is not for distance. It is not appropriate to say that if the meaning is seen, because the functional one is not seen in it. Where is the place, etc., where that functional one is seen?

Yes. In this way, a person does not have doubts about hidden fire, etc. Wherever there is a non-apprehension and non-recollection of things due to the distinction that things do not mix with other things. If the function of something similar can distinguish it from something that is not that function, then that is also a kind of cognition. Otherwise, it is inverted, like mistaking a fish bladder for silver. When one recognizes the similarity, because one sees the difference, is it not the case that one does not cling to it as being that? If one thinks it is that, then how is the cognition arising from the senses not inverted? If one sees a little that it has a function, then it is not inverted. If one cannot determine which of the two it is, then it is not an appearance, because one must determine that it is one of them. If one is uncertain, one will fall into doubt. Even if one does not recognize "similar" or "that is it," but because it is similar to the recognition of similarity, what is the need for not recognizing similarity itself? Just as seeing blue that is not indicated by "blue" can generate the cognition of blue, seeing similarity can also generate the cognition of "similar." If the difference is specifically indicated, because there is no saying "similar to that," then what is the relationship between this and that? From the habit of seeing that entity, if one is convinced that "that is this," that is not arising from the senses. The cognition arising from the senses can only see the similar function, while that entity is added by the mind through conceptual thought. If it is conventionally agreed upon, one says "that is this," otherwise it is not. If one does not see the difference between the two, and is not convinced from the habit of seeing that, due to distance, etc., the cognition arising from the senses is the view of conceptual thought. Because in things there is no function of the part where the difference and nature of the two are inconsistent, that is, things that are neither both nor different. For blue, etc., which have become the object of valid cognition, even if one cannot determine whether it is momentary or non-momentary in nature, it is also the direct perception of the measurability of function. Uncertain whether it is momentary, etc.
