Because it would lead to the impossibility of inference and action. Because the object of its inference is understanding, therefore it exists. It is also acceptable to rely on it, (because) knowledge will arise, which is what is to be explained. It is not reasonable to understand what is not near, because it would lead to the impossibility of inference. Even relying on the object of entry, inference is without error. And, because it will arise, one might think, "This itself is non-understanding," such as "merely understanding things." Therefore, to know that "because it is not the cause of entry, it is not itself a valid means of cognition," this is the classification of this treatise. For the time being, understanding arising from intelligence is not inference, because it has no connection with other understandings, and understanding arising from sound is not, because there are very many contradictions between them, so the reason for classifying "for this, this is valid cognition, and others are not" is not established. Because there is non-confusion, etc., in its individual appearances, this is vowing according to one's own intention. Although understanding is for the accomplishment of the vow, it is not valid to combine the reasons for classification with the intentions of others, saying that one is not confused about the meaning, this is called "merely knowledge." For it, because it is not made by a person, like the sense faculties, knowledge is without error. For others, because they depend on the faults of people, they cannot touch the meaning at all. That is, for the time being, faults arising from sound depend on the speaker. This is what is said. Like the sense faculties, is it not the case that faults such as non-connection, etc., which are not made by a person, exist naturally? What is made by a person is valid cognition because there is no fault of the person, and the sense faculties are valid cognition because there is no fault of the person, because due to the faults existing in themselves, they are not valid cognition in some cases, this is what is shown, called "following the world." The speaker himself is made by a person, and when people name things, the person who is present naturally understands, this is just talk, what was done before

Because it is to be realized in that way. Pramana is also not realized here like smoke. Similarly, if you are asked how you know the meaning of the sound of fire, If you say, "I know," and take another person as a pramana, and that also comes from others, it is like one blind person looking at another. Like that, it is not establishing reality as it is. Merely following it to realize the meaning of the Vedas, just as being defiled by desire, how is it not completely defiled? To explain this, it is said, "In the world," and so on. Are words not pure that can realize the meaning related to the meaning of other words? Those are also widely known in the world in that way, but people approach defilement because of their own faults. Because the Vedas are not man-made, they cannot be changed, and merely what is said by worldly people, merely following the world, how can they approach defilement? If someone thinks like this and is confused about it, then the answer is, "There also." If it is said that the Vedas also have related meanings, then it is not realizing what is related to what, that is, not knowing the difference of one's own meaning. If following what is established in the world, then the sound is related to the meaning of the world, following the world, just like the world, the Vedas will also become completely defiled, this is what is explained by "In the world." If the connection and the sound are also from following the world, then it will become very, very doubtful of being defiled, this is what is explained by "The world." In the world, those who are merely worldly people, those are merely the meaning of the sound of the Vedas. If one is accustomed to the meaning of worldly people themselves, following the previous, previous ones, if one realizes the meaning from the Vedas, then no meaning will be individually determined, that is the meaning. To explain that not being man-made itself is not a branch of individually determining meaning, in order to realize things like sacrifices, because a person cannot do it himself, so apart from being able to clearly explain the meaning itself, the Vedas themselves are not a pramana, such a thought.
