Now, regarding attachment, what exists and what does not? The meaning of what is said is, "if it starts from 'I'." This is for the opponent. What is said is the Commentary on Valid Cognition (Pramāṇavārttika). Then, how is abandoning the self, similarly, contemplating suffering is not meaningless. Why? Therefore, it is said for the sake of abandoning it. Abandoning does not become separate from attachment, because there are other reasons. If one examines "I cannot be abandoned," then it applies equally to being separate from attachment, that is, "for the self." Combine with "how it is without it." Or, will attachment itself become separate from attachment? The explanation for this is, "that" refers to attachment. "Another" refers to being separate from attachment. Thus, it is the nature of attachment. The nature of exhaustion and the same direction, is it all? "One" is without parts. "One" also, like having limbs, thinks there is one direction. If so, then that part with limbs is complete for each limb, therefore it is only separate. For the separate, it exists in the state of recognizing the non-separate nature, the explanation for this is "if so." How is it endless? By examining other and other. "If one nature arises, then abandoning the previous nature, another nature arises" this way is reasonable. This is like what is said in "how to abandon the self," etc., the explanation for this is "therefore, through it." "By any means" refers to the nature of being separate from attachment. "Combining in another way" refers to "if for the self." "What" is combined with "that itself." Combine with "for what, there is no attachment and separation, that is not abandoning." Depending on the object, it is meaningless. It is also not done in other ways, that is, the meaning of non-existence. If it is said to be meaningless, then what will become of it? "Through contemplating suffering." Contemplating suffering is not for manifestly separating from desire, but It is for making the mind controllable, and controlling the mind is also the situation of the husband.

To explain the reason for saying, "Since it exists at all times, what is the need to teach the practice of suffering? Even if it is not taught," it means that through the practice of suffering, or through the approximate teaching of suffering. The "those" refers to people. "Suffering itself" is what causes suffering. "To discern by mixing with suffering" is to determine. "That" refers to the nature. Previously, it only manifested before the teaching, and if one does not develop attachment to it, then even if it is taught approximately, one will not be liberated from attachment. Because that is also repeating it. Previously, it has been explained that there is no object free from attachment, and now it is explained that it is not to establish freedom from attachment. We recognize the nature of the suffering of conditioning, and in order to be free from acceptance and rejection, just like cow dung and sandalwood, this itself will lead to freedom from attachment, therefore its practice is taught. It is only explained that it is not the cause of freedom from attachment, that is, this will not lead to freedom from desire. To clarify this, it is said, "Practice suffering." Even if the collection of suffering is obvious, but sentient beings controlled by the desire for happiness, because they have no mindfulness, are they not incompatible with peace? Those who are satisfied with the taste of joy, What happiness does a peaceful mind have? Those who are greedy for wealth, How can they have that happiness? Furthermore, even if one obtains the entire earth girdled by the ocean, as well as cows, horses, etc., those who are greedy for wealth will not be satisfied by them. However, happiness is the acquisition of wealth. Those who are pursuing happiness, because they suffer from discriminating thoughts such as searching, they think that happiness is the manifestation of suffering. Therefore, the sages teach the practice of suffering, I think it is because, if one is completely peaceful, one will not be greedy for the happiness of samsara, which is related to "through the practice of suffering." Even if one practices suffering, but if one clings to self, one will not prevent attachment to "I," this is what is to be explained: "Here, peace is to see self as real." For seeing self as real
