The cushion is, it must mean "I." Thinking there is an I, one can abandon attachment to the I, but not the I itself. Therefore, in order to completely abandon conceptual thoughts, it is not that there is no separation from desire, nor is it that there is no liberation because there is an I, when thinking like this. Attachment to the faultless I, if it is thought that the I is established by valid cognition and exists in the mind, then that mind itself is attachment. If there are no valid cognitions, etc., it will become like no-self, that is its meaning. Isn't it admitting that other than the view of I and mine, everything else is attachment? And because that is the cause of samsara, it is faulty and should be abandoned, when thinking like this, it means "However, I and." Here, "this" refers to admitting. If attachment is faulty, it means "If attachment has faults." Even if difference is admitted, it is shown that not even a little desire is established, meaning "From that, there is nothing." Thinking that differentiated attachment is the only thing that can be abandoned, it is "Abandon it, that is, attachment's." It is also shown that differentiated attachment can only be abandoned by seeing the faults of the object, and not otherwise, it is "Without prior occurrence." "Other faults" refers to other faults, meaning "one's own faults," implying "not having faults," refers to the object of I. "The cause of happiness" refers to the cause of mine. Isn't attachment, like things such as vases, accepted or abandoned by desire and hatred, etc.? When thinking like this, it is "Abandoning desire and hatred, etc., and being connected with the qualities and faults of the object," connect like this. Not seeing the qualities and faults of the object, that is abandonment, that is, from seeing the qualities of the object, etc., and from seeing faults, hatred not abandoning, not producing the nature of not producing the cause of seeing the qualities and faults of the object, is the attachment of approaching, accepting, and destroying by seeing the qualities and faults of external objects such as vases. The object is I and mine, that is, its thing itself, connected with "having qualities." Because there is no it, there is no having qualities. Therefore, reason.

Showing that this is not attachment is called clinging. To clarify "what is or is not the external form," there is "Is attachment the attachment of merit?" Stating with reason and combining with reality, if one sees that there are no incomplete merits in myself and what I own, then it is shown that the fruit of clinging to self, attachment, is irreversible, which is called "no incomplete cause." Abandoning desire and hatred, etc., this and "For the faultless self, there is also no cause for separation" are the same. In order to understand the meaning of "Is attachment the attachment of merit?" the verse is summarized with the intention of "For that cause without incompleteness, what fruit can prevent it?" How I have said it is not the meaning understood by this. Saying "For the faultless self" means thinking that clinging to self and attachment are not different, while "no incomplete cause" means thinking that they are different. Attachment itself is faulty, because it is the root of suffering, so it is the basis of suffering. Therefore, for this self, since it is not combined with suffering, it is the same as being without desire. The self is the consciousness that accomplishes all happiness and suffering, and is the enjoyer of its fruits. Therefore, just like the self alone, attachment is also the object that is regarded as what I own. Therefore, it is shown that it will not become an object without desire, which is called "What fault can still be seen." Is the self also not considered an object without desire, since it is the knower and enjoyer who accomplishes suffering, and is merely the enjoyer? If so, since the essence of this self has no other, how should someone who wants liberation know, want, and point to the self? If one knows that it should be abandoned, then seeing no-self, one will obtain the accomplishment of liberation. If the self exists, then it is the cause of the combination of all knowers and enjoyers. Generating attachment, etc., is merely the master of suffering and smoke, while the self is the root of suffering, because if it exists, it will not be known that it arises.
