It is necessary. At that time, the absence of yellow is not because of its appearance. Otherwise, blue would also be completely absent. If one wishes to encounter only blue, then one would also desire only the shape for this, because one would obtain the commonality of yellow and white, but not the color. However, it is not valid cognition solely from its entirety. If a part is also valid cognition, then it would not become an argument that only inferential conceptualization is valid cognition, because even the conceptualization of sound is not deceptive in regard to just a part of the object. No, because it is asserted that merely by being non-deceptive and deceptive, it is valid cognition and the other. If it accords with intention, it is valid cognition, and if it does not, it is the other. The cognition of yellow is shape, seeing a tree walking is a tree, the cognition of a jewel existing in another place is a jewel, and the sons in true dreams are desired, but not time, etc. Therefore, the part that is manifestly desired is valid cognition. What arises from sound is also because it shows manifest intention, which is what will be explained. Mere conceptualization is not valid cognition even for a part of the object, because it is not the object of manifest intention. It has already been said that this is not obtained in any way. The object of manifest intention is inference with conceptualization, this is the distinction. A part is valid cognition and the other, because it is manifest intention and the other, this is the meaning. The action residing in the agent is known to be definite by residing in the action itself, therefore that itself should be known first. If that is known, then what is the use of residing in the agent? Because it is only the method of that which is desired, with this thought, "abiding in the effect" is spoken. Knowing what is to be encountered is a branch of entering, but it is not its own nature. If it is the assertion of the action residing in the agent, then its own nature would be spoken. The own-nature in relation to what is to be encountered is the action, but not merely its own nature. Indeed, for its own nature, it is not valid cognition, too much.

It is for the sake of knowing. It is thought that "what is to be encountered is valid cognition." It is thought that the action residing in the agent is also the same. In order to eliminate the doubt of "how can one who only focuses on his own nature focus on what is to be encountered?" It is shown that the knowledge of the agent of what is to be encountered is valid cognition, and by completely determining it in this way, the meaning can be understood. The meaning of this is that one is attached to focusing on what is to be encountered by focusing on one's own nature. However, the so-called "function" refers to the valid cognition of worldly people, and initially it is the method of accomplishing it. It is not, because if it is said that it is meaningful, then this will also be accomplished naturally. Is the knowledge or imputation of the first moment also acceptable? This is not what is to be encountered, because what is to be encountered has been completely determined. How can its meaning be understood? The knowledge of encounter exists in the nature of attachment to external objects, through subsequent inference, because of attachment to what is encountered with external objects. If it is said that one's own appearance is attached to external objects, even so, one is completely attached to what is to be encountered. If it is said that it is neither internal nor external, it is not, because of attachment to the external itself, and also because it will fall into endless faults. The external is the end of existence, not that neither is, because it is self-awareness, not one's own appearance, and also because it is known as other by direct perception. If it is said that therefore it is not external either, it is not, because by clinging to the external and one's own appearance as one, therefore knowing it as the reality that is neither. If it is falsely established as external on that, then it will become endless because of encountering it again. Therefore, relying on subsequent inference is a repetition, because it has already been completely cut off. For direct perception, it is also because it is what is to be encountered in the moment itself, so there is knowledge. Then, is it not that the second knowledge is obtained? It is not, because for one thing, two knowledges should not arise in succession. If it is said that the second is not other, then it is that which encounters it, not other.
