Regarding the mind, from the perspective of meaning, or from the perspective of objects (ālambana), poisons and weapons, etc., do not change the mind through the change of the body, or cause it to change through its transformation. However, it functions merely through tormenting, or in other cases, by serving as an object (ālambana). If it is said that, just as with fulfilling desires, the body also undergoes transformation, even if this is allowed, it does not change the mind, because even without it, transformation is accomplished from the object (ālambana). The actions of others, also because seeing the transformations they have made, one takes them as objects (ālambana), so why not connect with them? Because there is no propelling force to sustain life. Even if there is, because of the harm from poisons, etc., the body does not have its own consciousness, therefore it is of no help. Because its knowledge is helpful, it is said that the mind relies on the body. Thus it is said. Grain that comes from a seed, if it is not helped by rain, etc., will not become abundant. Providing help is also necessary. The meaning is that, either directly as a support, or not, but it is not repetitive. If the mind is accompanied by attachment to the body, or even if karma does not help it, it will not change, this refers to the fact that because of attachment to it, it is led there, and it does not depend on not providing help, and because that support and the non-that support itself are also the producers of their own habitual lineage, so it can be seen in the beginning of birth, in order to subsequently understand these, even if it is the opposite, it is not non-opposite. Or, the meaning is the meaning to be pursued, that is, what should be accepted or what should be abandoned, which is happiness and suffering and their creators. This is also through this path, meaning that it proves the transformation of the meaning itself through this path. This is also because the object (ālambana) itself transforms in the same way, so this is also indirectly indicated. Its knowledge is helpful, and the distinction between knowledge and non-knowledge also refers to this meaning. If the body transforms, the mind will also transform, then the transforming mind should not arise only from the mind.

Is it not because the mind has not been seen to be separate from the body? Therefore, it is thought that the mind, which arises solely from the body, will change with the changes of the mind. The existence of the body is said to be constant. If the body is also seen not to be separate from the mind, then it is not established that the mind does not exist before the body, this is its meaning. Thus, to show that it is merely unestablished, that is, the meaning of "awareness is self," is awareness produced by itself, or by others, that is, by mind or by a person? For the time being, it is not produced by the consciousness of the result, because it holds its own time. The previously produced result or cause, or anything else, is unreasonable, this is its meaning. Because when the eye and so on are functioning, their consciousnesses do not exist. If it is thought, how is that understood as a cause? That is to say, the various consciousnesses of the eye and so on. The answer is: no. Because for them, there is following and not following, that is, when the eye and so on are functioning, other consciousnesses will hold the following and not following, this is its meaning. It is established by holding what is experienced by itself, that is, opening the eyes itself. Similarly, the body that first arises at birth is not consciousness before the consciousness of the body arises, because there is no consciousness. Even if it exists, it is because it arises from it, in order to show that the body will not change, that is, the body that first arises. If it is thought that, like the eye and so on, the body is also the cause of consciousness, is it not understood by other consciousnesses? That is to say, if it is understood by others. The answer is: how can something that has never existed since the beginning be understood? That is, when the eye and so on are functioning, the consciousness that holds its function is other, its own object of knowledge is separate from that consciousness, therefore it is said that it does not exist. Similarly, the other consciousness that holds the function of the body, that holder without consciousness does not exist. Even if it exists, it arises only from that, merely not seeing is the cause of doubt, this is its meaning. However, the consciousness that arises later is understood as not having consciousness before.
