It is so, connecting the aspect of "following the self-illuminating function of that, I" with "is not." Consciousness does not follow the root consciousness. If it were so, it would also be the arrogance of ruling the kingdom of consciousness in the next life. That also does not rely on the senses, because if the function of the senses increases, this decreases, and if that decreases, it increases, which is the teaching. By "transforming into the wisdom of consciousness," etc., other reasons are explained, because it is the transformer of the senses. It is unreasonable to say that consciousness is the maker, although fire is the transformer of the pot, it does not become the maker, thinking thus, it is "if the eye, etc." The pot is not only the transformation of what is produced by fire, but the senses are only the transformation of what is produced by consciousness, thus showing the difference, it is "those who see the pot, etc., in other places." At the beginning of birth, are the senses not what is transformed by the consciousness that transforms into destruction and sorrow, etc.? Because of thinking about seeing the beginning, etc. Showing that the beginning is also its own transformation, it is "the beginning, etc." If at the beginning of birth, the senses are what is transformed by consciousness, then why does it not transform into the direct perception of oneself or others? Smoke, which is produced by fire, is not what is inferred in all cases, because it is not directly perceived? Thinking thus, it is "however, if again." The answer is: if from fire, smoke is what is inferred, because being born from fire is directly perceived, and it is not knowable. However, it is the direct perception of its own result. Why is it that, differing from what is not, the determination of the nature of smoke is only the determination of its result, but not the determination of fire? After stating the reasoning, it corresponds to the truth.

Therefore, for example, even for the initial arising, the limb of inferring the senses is definitely its result. Although it is so, it means that it is determined by direct perception itself. Now, saying "having precedence" is because of similarity. Saying "other" is because of difference, meaning that this time and place are not produced by the objects of other times and places, so there is no difference. Just as for this initial arising, the senses are understood as the mind arising from the previous life, so too for other arisings, it is again explained that it is understood as the mind arising from other arisings. Saying "the senses" means that this also, through implication, shows the senses and the consciousness of mind as the result, as the knower and the known, because this is its reason. Now, saying "from" means from the senses. The produced of the senses is not mind, and the produced of mind is, wasn't it just said about what just passed? Indeed, the consciousness of mind itself, because it has attachment to the senses, is said to be produced from that. Saying "from that" also, saying "from the consciousness of mind" this shows beginninglessness and endlessness, meaning that from the consciousness of mind, because it has attachment to the senses produced from other arisings, it is known that it will produce it in the same way. Saying "from that" means from the inferred senses. Showing that it is established from inferring attachment to the senses, etc., saying "from that also" means that the senses arise from the consciousness of mind. Because its transformation is transformed. If it is necessary to establish that it is its produced, then because there is also the consciousness of mind that is not its produced, is it uncertain? Thinking this, it is said, "If the wisdom of mind is also." What transformation is transformed by what, isn't that its result? Just as the senses are the result of the consciousness of mind, the pot is not the result of fire, because it is uncertain.

As taught, all such kinds are clear. Why do you still doubt? As taught, what is called 'what is transformed' is definitely what is transformed. If one thinks it is uncertain, then it is only the transformation of consciousness that is the sense faculty, because it is also its transformation in the beginning, etc. Likewise, consciousness is also only transformed into the eye, etc., because the beginning, etc., is also its transformation. This is the meaning of doubt. The meaning of the answer is uncertainty, as it is said: Both are uncertain. If the senses rely on wisdom, if it is not so, then because there is no reliance and dependence, there is no attainment of its nature. Wouldn't the various kinds born once attain fearlessness? Therefore, the stream of birth and death is seen as between nursing. However, if one speculates elsewhere on a reason similar to this, if it is so, then if it is not the other world, then is its law of arising coming? Thus thinking. Therefore, it is said to be the basis where wisdom dwells. In the commentary, it is only the fault of consciousness being without a basis, etc., because the result of consciousness is to symbolize the indestructible nature by the nature of being without a basis, which means that the result, the senses, etc., will not be destroyed. The difference between the senses, etc., produced by consciousness is that they are produced by consciousness or by the habituation of one's own kind, because consciousness is what understands one's own kind, so the law of arising is not the reason for the senses, but it is the law of wisdom that only relies on wisdom. The nature of thinking, the action with desire for the senses, thinking is also called consciousness, the reason for the senses is through the gate of projecting the wisdom that relies on it, so wisdom also becomes a place of reliance. If it is the nature of the law of arising, then the transformation of the senses with a basis will not be produced by consciousness or by one's own kind. What is the basis of wisdom?
