It is to be known that knowledge is not invalid because it cannot be a valid means of cognition. Therefore, how can one know everything? From that, subduing afflictions etc. does not transform there, because it comes from elsewhere. Now, knowledge is very vast, just like afflictions are very huge, because one has not seen knowledge that transcends the senses. Similarly, the very first transcendent one, because Dharma etc. are not objects of cultivation. Knowledge that does not arise from that becomes the root of the proximate cause. As it is said, the proximate cause can also arise from ignorance, so it should not be considered that in the object of inability, it is the proximate cause of the ignorant. Therefore, it should be known that knowledge is the root. In the object of inability, one wants to establish following with valid cognition, so one should seek, but not in other objects, because there is no dependence. What is said, "Valid cognition is knowing the hidden meaning," means that if one is ignorant of moments etc., just like Dharma etc., it is only hidden. Knowing it is also only valid cognition, and that also acts as the proximate cause etc. Is the proximate cause not language? If that is from a trustworthy person, the object of mind and senses is also, and not inverted. Only speaking the truth is said to be trustworthy language, and the phrase "the object of senses also" refers to direct perception etc. The language of the object of direct perception etc. that speaks of understanding the meaning is a valid means of cognition for external objects, but not for hidden knowledge. How does one see the speaking of meaning itself? If it is said to be from trust, the senses are called the root, this exists, so it is said. The word "also" with a summarizing meaning, whether it is the former or the latter, can be said to be a distinction in both, the distinction is stated again separately. Or, for the "also" of the non-trusting and non-sensory object, it is the meaning of distinction, the word "also" means this. Similarly, in terms of ability, even if it exists, if it is incapable, falsehood will be seen. This negates the words of untruth through "from trust."
