It has a basis. What is the agent, the knower, the dweller? If it is of such a nature, the appearance is so definitely related, and it is understood by relying on consciousness, what contradiction is there? Here, only appearance is needed, not reality, because what does not appear, even if it exists, is no different from non-existence. Thus, it is said that only the object exists. Even if there is no external object, it is not necessarily present in appearance. If there is no appearance, the external object becomes extreme ignorance. It has been shown that appearance can occur even without an external object. If there is no appearance, then there is no external object, because it is not seen. Therefore, there is no contradiction in appearing as a sprout from appearing as a seed, being cause and effect. If only the sprout can appear, then it cannot appear as a seed. If it only appears, then there is no appearance as a seed, so it becomes causeless. According to the view of those who say that external objects exist, it is not causeless, because there are seeds that do not appear. Thus, although the external object does not appear, the external object itself has not deteriorated. When does the appearance disappear? Consciousness itself does not exist. If it is said that it has the appearance of others, so it is not causeless, then it is not so, because there is no certainty. If it is said that one's own appearance is not born from the appearance of others, then this is not the same. Thus, if that thing does not appear to anyone, who makes that sprout have a cause, what is the measure of its existence? By speaking of what can be approached, all speech is separated, which is the characteristic of not being able to be approached. If it is said that it is seen later, then the answer has been given. If it is said that it is known to exist from the fruit, then if the things of cause and effect are established, then all of it is known. If it is known as the thing itself, it also becomes the thing of cause and effect. Therefore, it cannot be established due to the fault of mutual dependence. If it is said that this clinging to one is also what is seen, then who can prevent clinging to consciousness? If it is said that because there is no consciousness, how can there be clinging, then this is the same for external objects. It is only through clinging that external objects exist, thus establishing terminology.

It is like that. Even so, appearance is only existent in conventional truth. At the time of inference, other than the imputation of external objects, there is no other existence. That imputation, if it only transforms here like this, then it will also transform in seeing. If it only transforms here like this, then it will appear. If the appearance is other, then, the meaning is also other, therefore this is the same. There also, ultimately, it is not the realization of oneness. For the Vijnanavada, just like two people with cataracts seeing two moons, they also interpret others. Therefore, for the Vijnanavada, if relying on the part that necessarily appears and is related in its own nature, as the object of cause and effect, what contradiction is there? For those who say that external objects exist, it has already been shown that there is contradiction. Because there is no valid cognition. Furthermore, if external objects are realized, then, they are realized from the outside. If previously realized, then everything, all aspects are realized. If external objects such as fire are permanent, then, one aspect of it has already been realized previously, then, for what purpose does one enter from inference? If inference does not realize its own nature, if it is like that, then how does one realize this existence? If one realizes it as another nature, then it is the same for the nature of consciousness. If realization combines appearance and what is to be distinguished as one and enters, and imputes there, then, what does that imputation do? It is not like that, if there is no it, then will later produce the cutting off of the object? If it is not like that, then how does cutting off arise? If realizing cutting off is a thing, then it is not transformed until between habits, even if it is like that, it is still uninterrupted. Because there is no its own nature in habit. If one admits like this, then for the object there is also no its own nature. Seeing cannot realize as the same as not seeing. However, it is only imputation, this is the same for the Vijnanavada. If the causes of consciousness of different kinds enter between habits, then how...
