are one together. However, if the previous nature is not held in the form of memory, then how can one understand that the previous and the later are different? Therefore, there is no difference. If that is the case, then the nature of wisdom is very clear. Furthermore, for external objects, it is impossible to determine the nature of cause and effect. For example, since the external has no prior visibility, how can consciousness be the result? Because consciousness is observable, it can be considered the result. Similarly, due to circumstances such as place and time, that result will produce other results, so the determination of cause and effect is not reasonable. In terms of wisdom, wisdom arises from previous wisdom itself. If smoke arises without fire, even so, it arises from the habit of smoke, so it is not without cause. The appearance of water is also like that, like smoke and water in a mirage and a swarm of bees. If the external transforms from habits, then this external is what is desired, because it arises from the power of habits, so it is merely named. That is also done by the world itself, what need is there for you (the opponent) to do? If the result of habit itself does not appear, how can it be said to be the result of habit? Does suddenly appearing smoke, when fire is recognized, have the appearance of the result of fire? If it transforms from investigation, then it is the same for the result of habit itself. Because the habits of other lives may also awaken, just as an old man may dream of a child's games. Therefore, for other lives and so on, it is said that "what is seen is appearance." It is certain that "appearance" arises from the power of habit. Therefore, the previous previous consciousness is appearance. From consciousness, outsiders are completely shown to be outsiders themselves. Dreams appear in various ways on the same thing, this is the mind that is controlled, related to beginningless habits. Because it is the result, all results are related to habits. The results of potters and so on are also like the results seen in dreams. The Lord, power, karma, and other considerations, those are

Connected to habitual tendencies, it is the deluded mind that wavers. That is the lord of all lords, and likewise the sovereign of all sovereigns, the sovereign who creates all beings. Habitual tendency is the supreme among gods. If it were not so, how could the creator of beings, endowed with realization, abide in what is suitable, and enter into great sorrow? Being able to abide in self-mastery, and fully knowing everything thoroughly, if one were to enter, then who would learn from whom? If this is for the sake of one's own benefit, it is indeed the infusion of teachings, then the state of the author himself is not good, who would reason about this? If abiding in what is suitable is accomplished, and if it accomplishes good, it is better to extend to ignorance than to create impure confusion. If one cannot change it, how would one desire this ability? It is also from the power of habitual tendencies, from that, one enters in that way. Thus, the lord, the sovereign, and the author, the river of speech, flows rapidly and enters without ceasing, entering the ocean of habitual tendencies, it will eventually be exhausted. For the good methods of delusion, habitual tendency itself is the most excellent reliance. From that alone, all desires will be completely fulfilled. Therefore, do not ask me how to hold meaning, for this is the meaning of revealing its ultimate intention. I cannot accomplish such a thing for you in every way. Who has the ability to accomplish something that has been done very wrongly? What can one do with beads for a seed that is completely rotten? If the aspects of what is grasped and what grasps do not exist, then how can there be such expressions? This is just your complete delusion. The expressions of what is grasped and so on are not wisdom either, because they have merged into the nature of experience. Expression is its very essence, that is its meaning. Thus: Although the nature of mind is without differentiation, due to inverted views, the experiences of what is grasped and what grasps are perceived as if they have differences. For example, for those who are deceived by mantras and so on, clay and so on, even if they are separated from their form, appear in other forms. Although the nature of mind is without differentiation, this shows that it is established by self-cognizant direct perception. That is so.
