It should be spoken of as a thing. This has already been said. The particular and the thing that possesses the particular are by nature distinguished by examining the difference of the opposite. The very absence of an object of focus is posited in order to know suchness, as if it were separate from being regarded as an external object of focus. But in ultimate truth, there is no realization of difference, because realizing non-difference is a thing. How can there be realization of something that does not exist? It is for that very reason. If it is not like that, what kind of realization is a thing? Therefore, a thing is not excessive, because realization arises in what does not exist, but that is not present in a thing. If this called "knowing" is spoken of as action or thing, etc., then there will be contradiction in things, etc., and if it is action, then what is already established is being established. If this called "knowing" is spoken of as action, then because it is to be realized, the word "knowing," which has the nature of a subject, will be explained as action, or because of knowing, it is knowing, or because of causing to know, it is knowing. If because it is to be realized, it is knowing, thus it becomes the nature of a thing, an agent, and an action, then all of this is unreasonable. If because of knowing, it is knowing, then it will not become without something to be realized. Likewise, the agent and so forth are also the same. Therefore, what is called "knowing" depends on an external object, and what is called "without an object of focus" is because it does not exist, so they contradict each other. If you say that, it is not so. If because of knowing, it is knowing, then abiding in one's own nature, it will not become without another, how could this be? Because other than that is not seen. For it, what is to be realized is also its own nature, what is the use of another? In this way, what is shown itself is what causes realization. What contradiction is realized in this statement, "The self is what is to be realized"? The statement "It is action" has no realization. Blue and so forth appear by their own nature, but other than that, there is nothing else. If this agent is regarded as related to his own action by another, then that itself is the object of focus of another. If it is reversed, how can it become establishing what is already established? Because this very connection is not fully established.

Then, how do you consider that to be the object of perception? If it is said that it is to be perceived by its own nature, then now this is using an established fact as the reason for establishment. If it is said, "I perceive blue," is it not perceiving the object of perception itself? That is not so. What is the consciousness that thinks "I"? That is the consciousness of the body and senses as the master. Because of clinging to "I," it cognizes with white, etc., with a common basis. Other than the senses, etc., the object of perception of the consciousness that thinks "I," I have not perceived. By what is this driven? That body is me, and likewise, these unconscious things are nature. Other than birth, there is no other driver. If it is said that from where it arises, what is seen acts on the body, then those are mutual causes, and one is the driver for the other. Other than that, exertion arises from the collection, and for the objects of cause and effect, it is merely establishing names. Without realizing the nature of the mind, other proofs cannot be realized. Like this, the previous to the previous, habit is also a driver for some. From the aspects of pleasure, senses, and mind, possessing aspects such as blue, etc., if another mind does arise, then from where do action and agent come? In simultaneous cognition, mutual action is also impossible. Therefore, the nature of action, etc., as real is unreasonable. Cognizing form, etc., is considering it without an object of perception. Since it is not self-nature, therefore, there is no object of perception for this. Whatever is said is not from "is," like this: Cognizing form, etc., is not considered without an object of perception. Since it contradicts the unconscious nature, therefore, this perceives its own part. Non-perception by the object of a different entity is very clear in terms of the nature of consciousness, as has been shown. If the agent and action are, then the words of direction, etc., since those have no object of perception, therefore, it would be a fault of being without direction. Whatever is said is also said in a very good way. Like this, through the words of consciousness and without an object of perception, etc., it should also be understood. Therefore, those are also not consciousness itself. If that is without an object of perception, then there is no direction, so it is just a futile word. Meaning.
