Now it is difficult to refute. Its own nature does not change into other meanings. Therefore, if it does not enter, it is not awareness. Even if it enters, it is not another meaning. If it is the nature of the mind, then, how can blue and so on be perceived by oneself, how can it be perceived by others? It is not so, this is an illusion, like a person with cataracts seeing two moons. There too, it is the reality. Like this: How to know that there is no illusion? Wanting the function of awareness of common things. Similarly, illusion also, takes the thing itself as the function of awareness. For example, because of common understanding, wanting no illusion, just as understanding is the thing, is it the same for others? That is not reasonable, because the thing itself that is common, is not seen by direct perception. Because there is no direct perception, it is not perceived by inference. For the time being, direct perception cannot understand what is perceived by others in common. If it is not so, then all others' understanding will be considered causeless. However, others also, understanding is also the same. Therefore, is its very self common? Just as I understand this, other things that exist in the feasible realm are also understood, is this recognized in the world? No, because the hair seen by a person with cataracts, and the things seen in dreams, do not have such understanding either. There too, it exists. In the dream state, it is also the same nature. Therefore, because it is similar to that, is it also only external? No, because the power of habit makes oneself appear as such, but there is no other there, this is the world's recognition. Similarly, the waking state is also similar. Ultimately, in either case, it is only appearing as one's own nature, therefore there is no signifier and signified. If everything in a dream is accomplished naturally and effortlessly, then how do you know that knowledge is the same? That is not so, from the appearance of blue and so on, understand what other naturalness is. That also arises from the power of habit. Therefore, how does this change state? It is only appearing as blue and yellow and so on, that is natural and effort

Where else is there transformation without effort? Although there are many in places like trees, it is said that they transform without effort because they transform into lakes and the like. If you say that, then what is meant by transformation without effort? If you consider that the consciousness that has become the fruit is the fruit, and that which has become the cause is the cause, then this transforms from this, from where does it transform? Without this, this arises, how can such a certainty occur? There is no direct perception of this, nor is there inference. To say that this is confused is not a valid argument. Due to the difference in habituation, even in dreams, appearances such as non-confusion arise. Similarly, even in the waking state, confusion is seen due to omens of death and the like. If you say that this is due to the fault of omens of death, then it is not so. Because there is no difference between omens of death and non-omens of death. Further distinctions are needed for this, and further distinctions are needed for that. Because it is other, from what does it become different? Such a situation does not exist. If you say that it becomes different only by itself, then it is not so. Because this is the ultimate limit of its own nature. The ultimate limit of one's own essence is not knowable by others. Merely knowing one's own essence, confusion and non-confusion are the same. If you say that prolonged following, delusion, and haste are non-confusion, then it is not so. Because direct perception does not engage in prolonged following. Therefore, if other conceptualizations become superfluous, then even that cannot understand the meaning, and therefore cannot abide there. That is also because it is directly perceived in its own essence. If you say that conceptualizations arising from experiencing objects are infallible, then it is not so. Because no relationship has been established. When objects are experienced, there is no conceptualization. When there is conceptualization, there is no experience, so how can a relationship be established here? If you say it is through conceptualization, then that is not a valid cognition either. That is also because it depends on a relationship, and other conceptualizations are needed, so there is no end to it. If so, then how is a relationship established with habitual tendencies? Because it is not so in ultimate reality, this is also a tenet, and it has been explained.
