Because the previous distinction has already been recognized. If the previous distinction recognizes separation from other distinctions, then, "Therefore, each exists separately." Just as one says oneself, if one says so, then, if other distinctions make this become other, if it becomes something to be recognized by a valid cognition, then how can other empty distinctions make it become other? What is established by a valid cognition cannot be made other by another valid cognition. With the relationship of concordant aggregation, all distinctions exist without difference, so how can one recognize it as other? If one recognizes it, then that itself is its nature, how can one make it other by another? But it is not made other by another, however, only a more subtle aspect becomes other. From that, eliminating the other, because it is impossible to determine, therefore, it also possesses that, and it will also become possessing a dharma other than that, if it is not said that way, it is not true, like this, if one obtains other aspects, then, in terms of valid cognition, it is reasonable. Even if one adds thousands of remainders, one cannot eliminate it. But if one does not obtain others, because one has determined that meaning itself, what do other distinctions do? There is nothing to be eliminated here. Therefore, non-erroneous cognition is to recognize everything, just like the valid cognition of direct perception. Therefore, recognizing other distinctions is meaningless. If distinctions are all different, and the things possessing distinctions are also different, therefore, merely recognizing distinctions, because it is not explaining with what can be explained, it does not include itself on one subject. If recognizing distinctions can also recognize things possessing distinctions, if that is the case, then again recognizing with one distinction, one distinction will hold everything. Direct perception does not hold in that way. If direct perception sometimes only holds the shape from a very far distance, and when things are near, it holds the color, if one says so, that is also unreasonable, if it is not in conjunction with things, merely holding color and shape, then one will never hold things, therefore that will become without things. But shape cannot be held without things, and color also

If it is said that I am not without substance, then how does it change from it to another substance? Therefore, it is not a common basis. If you ask how it changes there, therefore it is said: various foundations of dharmas, dominated by one possessor of dharma, when establishing one, it relies on it, others are like indifference, if obstructed, that is also stillness, from that it is like depending on others. How can meaningful terms be shown by the mind with non-existence? Thus, if that nature is not posited, admitting different entity dependencies, arising from beginningless habits, it will not harm worldly affairs. According to our view, the objects of common basis and so on do not exist, and this term is not the ultimate truth. The objects of common basis and so on do not exist, but depend on the meaning of words, and it is established that objects do not exist depending on the meaning of words. Thus, the so-called sound is based on the opposite of non-sound, and the sound of sound is established as a possessor of dharma. That sound also relies on the power of recognition, on the permanence and the connection itself, and is not external. Therefore, although impermanence appears, it is like being unnoticeable because it is grasped by inverted names, and it abides in a state like non-existence. Therefore, by the measure that establishes impermanence, other names are placed, because the object of inverted names is clear. At that time, because it is established as existence, it is understood that it is established. Therefore, it is understood that the meaning of the dharma sound is based on its own nature. If it is obstructed, then it is separated from it. Therefore, because it is understood that it is stillness, it is understood that the dharma that contradicts it is dependent. Having establishment and negation is only understanding, but things do not become that kind of nature. Thus, just as I understand it in this way, it is understood by direct perception, and that is established in the realm of names, and for it, there is no other establishment or slight negation by other discriminations. Discrimination does not touch the nature of the past, etc., because it does not exist at that time.
