Then, how could the very nature of being realized not exist? If realization is in another way, and non-existence is also in another way? If someone says that existence itself is to be negated by some things that possess objects and so on, then, the explanation for this is: If you say that the object and time are negated, then, how can it exist and yet not be negated in that way? How can it not exist and yet not be negated in that way? Now, even saying "there is no such nature here" is itself something that cannot be negated. Like this, whatever nature, whatever object, and whatever time it is, if it exists, how can it be negated? But if it does not exist, the mind cannot possibly take it as an object, because it is impossible to ascertain what does not exist. If it is taken as an object, then the base and so on should also become objects. If it is not like that, it cannot be taken as an object. This is completely cutting off the nature that is not eaten by demons, because there is no other possibility. If you say "it does not exist in this place," and take the nature of the base as an object, then how can it not exist? If it does not exist, how can it be taken as an object? If you negate by fabricating what should be negated, then, if that is the case, you should also fabricate similar aspects, because there are things that contradict similar aspects, how can you not contradict similar aspects? Therefore, for the external, the establishment and negation of the stability of meaning, because that is something that words cannot exist, therefore words will be cut off. If you say that the words of establishment are not impossible to exist? No, because for things that are taken as objects, there is no establishment. If you say "the pot exists," if you assume it exists, then that itself is establishment, so what is the use of establishing again "it exists"? If you assume it does not exist, then, because of contradiction, you cannot establish "non-existence is existence." If it has been determined to exist, then, for it, establishment is meaningless. Because it has been completely determined to be non-existent, other establishments are impossible. Therefore, relying on things and non-things, relying on external rather than relying on external, for the meaning of words, relying on these, all establishment and negation here are allowed. The meaning of valid cognition (pramāṇa) is also different, and the meaning of words is also different. The meaning of words is the basis of existence and non-things, but the meaning of valid cognition is not like that. The meaning of valid cognition is things.

It is not a basis for non-existence. The meaning of validity (pramāṇa) is that it is impossible to exist in another form, because the own-nature is necessarily apprehended. What is your thought about the sound that has ceased? It is the same for the one that has not ceased. Therefore, the basis of existence and non-existence is not like that of the validity of sound and meaning. Therefore, the objects of establishment and refutation are what are conceived by minds with conceptualization, because conceptualizations are not necessarily engaged with objects. All that is without conceptualization is also not valid. If something that is not valid enters into the mode of establishing, then it refutes in order to show that it is not valid; and if it enters into the mode of refuting, then it establishes. If this understanding itself is an error, then the self will become clear as such, because self-awareness has no error. One's own nature cannot be seen as other, because it would be excessive to lose one's own nature. If it appears as another form, then that itself is also one's own nature, so it would become like that there as well, thus becoming endless. If it exists in its own nature, then the very act of closely taking up objects is prevented. If the subject of a quality is also understood by its own nature, then how can it be related to those two, and how can establishment and refutation be common? Here it is said: Even if it is not like that, the subject of a quality appears to be related to them. That is also from the very application of sound, it is assumed that the term "exists" is the basis. This term does not depend on the external and internal own-nature, but rather depends on the meaning of the sound. Sound does not recognize the external and internal own-nature. If it is not understood from that, because there is no other, then how do the terms of establishment and refutation depend? It is said that it depends on eliminating others. What does it mean to depend on eliminating others? Whatever understanding there is of sound. Is that not saying what that understanding is? Not at all. Even so, this term generates beginningless universal ignorance. Analyzing in this way, even if the external does not exist like the internal, the subject of a quality with the characteristic of the meaning of sound appears to be related to establishment and refutation, and so on.
