If one does not understand, how can one become its self-nature? Its self-nature is understanding the self-nature. If one understands it as a connection, then it will inevitably transform in that way. If one does not understand the connection with it, then it should not transform in that way. If one understands the connection with it later, then it will become the characteristic of an object of focus. Because direct perception is not interrupted, how can one say that it exists at that time? Otherwise, non-existence will become non-understanding. From the perspective of becoming the characteristic of an object of focus, it is established that whatever does not appear is itself. There is no other way to establish non-existence. As it is said: Those who say that it is established by valid cognition, all come from the negation of meaning. As it is said. However, that is a delusion, so it is not a fault even if it does not appear. If you say: If one clings to the subject, then everything will fall into delusion. Because the subject does not have valid cognition, how can subsequent inference become valid cognition? How can a reason that is not related to the subject show establishment? When direct perception and subsequent inference are not valid cognition, at that time, because the object to be measured is not established, it is only consciousness. The nature of what has arisen and what will arise is not apprehended by direct perception. At that time, if the connection between the reason and the subject is established by direct perception, then, by what has arisen and what will arise, things are established by subsequent inference. At that time, the other direct perception will become an establishment with a cause. If one thinks that what has arisen and what will arise, things are unique, then, at that time, because direct perception is established as valid cognition, subsequent inference is meaningless. If it is a delusion, then everything will be destroyed and decayed, so nothing will transform. Therefore, permanence or impermanence itself is established by direct perception. However, because it is a dharma, it is not established by direct perception. Direct perception only establishes the subject, if it is not like that, then there will be no subsequent inference, because all subjects are established by direct perception. That is not like that, as follows: If the dharma is established by direct perception, then the subject is completely established. Direct perception is not other, establishing the subject. In any place, it is impossible to establish the subject without the dharma, it will inevitably

Because of clinging to sound itself or to the thing itself. Therefore, just like sound itself and so on, there is no difference in this. If some erroneous dharmas are not seen, what fault is there in this? For example, if it is said to be like a stump and a person, that is not right. Because without a person and a stump, one can only see something bare. Without pervasiveness and another, there is no wisdom of meaning here. Being separated from pervasiveness and another is not something that can be grasped. If its own nature is like that, if it is not grasped, then it is the very ungrasped, therefore it will become the very ungrasped. If even if the length is not grasped, is it not seen? No, because what is seen there is the limb itself. That is not the length itself. The length itself is that which has limbs, and that should also be understood by subsequent inference. Like this: When one moves, everything moves, therefore it is one, thus understood, therefore oneness, this is from inference. If one limb is not seen, then the collection of all limbs is roughly observed, that will become one with the other, this is not a subsequent inference, because mutual connection itself will become a subsequent inference, not oneness itself. That is also not the object of subsequent inference, if the direct perception is not entered, it will become the object of other valid cognitions (pramāṇa). That itself is both seen and unseen, that is unreasonable. Therefore, whether it is pervasive or non-pervasive in time, that is grasped by direct perception, not the object of subsequent inference. If that is not the object of direct perception by its own nature, then that is not its own nature. When direct perception takes blue itself as its object, then it is not yellow and so on. When other times are not grasped as pervasive, one should think there that it is like that, otherwise, if all the fragments of time are collected, because all the time of that itself will be complete, the time of that itself will become doing the actions of all times. If the fragments of past and future times are not grasped, if it is said like that, it is not like that. If that is not grasped, then one will also not cling to that pervasive itself, therefore one should grasp it by relating it to that much time, thereby understanding.
