By just that change, everything is not non-existent, but has various differences. If it were not so, then because without it, it would change. However, if it is said that because one wants to express, therefore just the sound itself is not everything, then, if so, because the sound that is not everything is a kind of sound, therefore due to the meaning of the proposition, it becomes one-sided, therefore it cannot be established, just like saying that sound is impermanent because it is destroyed. If it is said, how can the destructibility of sound not be established? Because without its own essence, nothing can exist. It is not so, because the subject is established in its own essence, but because as the reason itself is not established, it is said to be not established. If the reason itself is different, it will change, otherwise it is not. Why? Because the agent and the act, the knower and the known, must be different. Sound is not known by sound, because the known is not established. The unestablished is not proven by the unestablished. If it is established? Even then, it is not what is to be proven, because the established is not proven by proof. If it is said that although it is not considered that what is to be proven and the reason are the same, but in the case where the subject and the prover are the same, is there any contradiction? There is contradiction, if it is said that because there is sound, it is impermanent, then the collection will not become what is to be proven. If it is said that through implication, the sound itself will become impermanent, so the collection is not damaged. If it is said that because it is sound, it is impermanent, then, for others, is it just understood as impermanent? It is not so, if it is said that because it is smoke, it will not be connected with no smoke, then, for it, because there is a difference in the essence of the general and the particular, it will change itself. Here, if it is said that this sound is permanent, because it is sound, so it is another cow's sound, if you do that, then what becomes the reason at that time? Here, all sounds are permanent, because it is sound, this itself is the thing that has no general and particular. If it is said, what is the contradiction that the sound subject itself is the prover? If there is a connection, how can it not be the prover? If there is nothing? If so, it is uncertain, therefore there is no fault called unestablished, but because of the uncommonness.

It is because of uncertainty. Therefore, for a subject (Tibetan: chos can) that is a reason (Tibetan: gtan tshigs), it becomes the fault of uncertainty (Tibetan: ma nges pa), but it is not unestablished (Tibetan: ma grub pa). However, if it is said that it is unestablished because it possesses the nature of needing to be pointed out again, then it is unestablished, just like this, there is no difference that needs to be pointed out again. For this, one should say "sound is impermanent," or "because it is sound, it is impermanent," rather than pointing it out again. If one says so, that is not correct, if one says sound is impermanent, it will depend on other reasons. In order to avoid this, it is necessary to point out again that "it is sound." The reason for saying "because it is sound, it is established" is that it is both sound and attached to sound, different from other subjects, and has the function and association of excluding other subjects. If one says "because it is sound, it is impermanent," it will depend on other subjects, and in order to eliminate this, there is no fault in stating them side by side. To this, I say: If sound itself can be established, then other reasons are meaningless. If it cannot be established by itself, then what is the use of pointing it out again? Therefore, because there is nothing here that one wants to point out again, it is the fault of being unestablished. Why not say the fault of not being concomitantly established? Because this fault can also appear in a faultless statement through summarization. In the case where a clear statement is needed, it is not reasonable because there is no defeat for someone who has already been defeated, and it depends on refutation and examination. Therefore, the subject itself cannot be the basis for establishing its own qualities. If one says it can be established, then it becomes a fault of no dispute, and in that case, the reason becomes meaningless. Therefore, because the knowable and the knower are different, if the subject as a reason becomes an entity, then because it cannot be established as the knower, the subject cannot establish its own nature. Because the knowable and the knower are seen as different, if the knowable does not exist, then the reason itself cannot be established. For example, a lamp that becomes illuminating because of its own light cannot establish its own purpose if its own nature is not understood. If the knower is different, if the knowable is the knower, then here, there is nothing different from the nature of the subject. Therefore.
