it is established, but the reason does not arise from that, it is not like that. Like this, if for some it is established, then it is established through the power of things. If it is admitted that it is established through understanding, then for the moon with a rabbit, it is also inevitable. If the reason is established for some, then it is established through the power of things. If the sound does not understand the reason, then how does it enter into distinction? If it understands the distinction, then it also exists in the mind, then how can it be said that it is not to be expressed? Because for the one with a reason, it is understood through sound, so it is to be expressed. This is the same for the reason. However, the pottery itself is mainly understood, and the merits such as sweetness, even if understood, are not to be expressed, because they are understood through not appearing without it. If someone asks: main, secondary, etc., if you don't want to express, it won't appear. Then, based on what? Entering itself is the main thing. Sometimes sweetness itself is the main thing, and sometimes it is matter, because of this. The things to be expressed and the things to be expressed are determined through the distinctions of the world. If you pursue sweetness, then always eat brown sugar. If you pursue the treatment of disease, then eat honey. When some diners have grains in their stomachs, for their benefit, sweetness is understood by showing brown sugar. When only showing honey, etc., which have special effects such as eliminating mucus, only showing the substance is the main thing. Therefore, both are understood. The difference between main and secondary is that at certain times, certain things exist in a certain way, and this is the distinction. When both are understood, because there is no other reason, only fame remains. If the reason is only an approximate indication, then it is not to be expressed. For example, when asking "Where is Devadatta's house?", the answer is "Where there is a crow." The crow is also not expressed by the word "house." Just as it is not to be expressed, even if there is no crow, it is still Devadatta's house, therefore it is not to be accepted.

It is indeed so. Similarly, words like "Brahmin" are also used to indicate people and so on. The crow does not approximately represent it, because it is impermanent. The prior inference is that anything else, such as a deity, that is approximately represented by the crow is itself the reason, for if it were not so, then that name would not be established. Then, how is it that the crow, which is not spoken, is an approximate representation? Because it is established by direct perception. It is precisely because of this that this is indicated by the sound of the crow itself. For reasons such as caste, there is no other expression to indicate it. Therefore, if it is not to be spoken, but is to be distinguished, then what is said is that which can be understood separately, and that which is understood from the sound itself is that which should be spoken. What is produced in the mind by sound is shown to be the object to be expressed, because it is the object to be expressed. If the sound is only understood, but is not the object to be expressed, then, if it is admitted that understanding is established, then there is no obstacle even for that which has a rabbit. Just like the cause, for that which has a cause, it will also become not the object to be expressed, that is the meaning. If merely understanding is the object to be expressed, then it is the same for the cause. If it is said that, just as saying "Give me sesame oil," although the container is understood, the sound of sesame is not the object to be expressed, then it is not so, because it is not understood in all cases. Even if one brings one's own container, it is possible to seek for the purpose of giving sesame oil. Therefore, it is impossible for something that is not the object to be expressed and cannot be understood by other sounds to be an approximate representation. That which has been represented can represent something, but if that which has not been represented represents, then it would be too extreme. Or, because it was initially an approximate representation, and later became very familiar, even if it is not understood at that time, the sound applies to the distinction itself, if that is the case, then sounds like "burn with fire" would also apply to eating dog meat and so on, just like the crow, because that reason is also included in it. If it is not so, then the cow's...
