Because of the change. For what is refuted by direct perception and inference, there is no need to rely on some establishers. If that were the case, then there would be no trust in the establisher either. Therefore, the domain of reason is doubt. Doubt merely indicates the absence of valid cognition of establishers and obstructors, but it is not doubt itself that manifests. Even if doubt does not manifest, there is still a sudden lack of understanding of inference. Or, wherever doubt can be generated, that becomes the domain of reason, because the valid cognitions of establishing and obstructing do not determine their own nature and its opposite. If what is not harmed by valid cognition is the domain of the statement of reason, then since there are two kinds of harm, how did the teacher explain that there are four kinds? Here it is said: By the division of inference, harm is explained as four kinds. The harm of inference is shown in three ways, the fourth is the harm of direct perception, therefore four kinds of harm are shown, but not two kinds of harmers of harm. If that is the case, then the harm of feces and fame should also come from the sign itself, if not, it would not become a division of inference. That is true, like this: For it, the promise is the effect sign, for going, fame is the nature sign. Trustworthy words are in accordance with the result, and fame is in accordance with nature. Why is this sign not the thing itself? It is said: Because one wants to speak truthfully, certainly, and with possession, the trust of oneself and others is the same, therefore one's own words and treatises are said to be one. There is no trustworthy person established by valid cognition, because one cannot understand that the other person is free from all faults, because he is not omniscient, because confused words cannot even be determined from inference. Therefore, because everything does not exist, the trustworthy person who is promised is trustworthy, but not in reality, therefore, in order to show the same, it is spoken together with one's own words.

Thus, if I am not a valid means of cognition, then this statement would be illogical. Similarly, regarding the meaning of a treatise, if it is not what it explains, then reasoning would also be illogical. If one does not accept oneself as a valid means of cognition, then it would inevitably lead to the fault of illogical speech. For example, saying that everything spoken is false. If you accept that I say everything is only false, then one should understand from that statement, and there is nothing to be done from my statement, this is the meaning being expressed. Thus, we would be toiling in vain, but that meaning can be established even without speaking. Furthermore, the speech transformed by the wisdom of the wise is also clear, such as saying: everything spoken is false, this is not a negation. If that is also negated, then the purpose of the occasion cannot be accomplished. Thus, in negating the three times, this statement is also not relevant. If this statement is not a valid means of cognition, then it will be stolen and discarded. If it is shown that everything spoken is false, then it contradicts one's own words, so it is illogical. By the establishment of speech, it has been accepted that oneself is a valid means of cognition, so how can one show that it is not a valid means of cognition? If it is said: for the sake of regretting in the future. Even so, it is contradictory, it is better not to show it, what is the point of toiling in vain? It is caused by not examining. This is a fault, that is, not examining, etc. Or, is saying falsehood negating the present and the future? At such a time, what is the use of this statement? For what is going to happen, since there is no listener, why speak? If it is said: like the mantra of a mantra reciter, so there is no fault. It is not so, because it is the time of debate. The meaning of debate is to determine things. Therefore, that is not it. Similarly, if one does not accept that, then reasoning about the meaning stated in the treatise is also illogical, so the treatise and the words are the same. To show the sameness, the treatise's, occasion, basis, is the one who harms, to show this meaning, this is spoken together with one's own words. If one does not accept the treatise, then how can one reason about its meaning?
