If the subject is taken as the proposition, then what will it become for it, this is impossible. Because how can there be the absence of subsequent concomitance of the reason? Are these not faults? If it is thought that dependence on the later limb is a fault of the subject, then, faults such as the reason will also become faults of the subject, because everything harms the subject. Therefore, being related to just these, considering the fault of the subject as not other, just like being contradictory to direct perception etc. If it is thought that the very thing to be established, not being excluded by the meaning of contradiction, is the subject, then is this not the definition of the subject? If, if the subject itself is taken as the subject, what fault is there? However, the subject itself is impossible to establish, because its own characteristic is not what is to be established. If establishing the subject, it will become establishing its own characteristic, then, all reasons will have no difference and subsequent concomitance. If so, then because there is no example, the reason itself is impossible there, therefore, it should not be said that the faults of others are the faults of others. Or, this itself is the fault of the subject, because it is impossible to establish. If that is the case, then all the faults of the reason will become the faults of the subject, because its fault makes the subject itself impossible to establish. Or, for example, in an example like "sound is impermanent," in any place where there exists another reason to establish, such as "because it is apprehended by the eye consciousness" etc., this is a fault of the reason. Like this, the subject itself does not have the fault of being impossible to establish, because other reasons can establish it. In any place where there is no reason at all, that is the fault of the subject. If one's own thought of existence is to be expressed by the words of the subject, then, if it is harmed by valid cognition, just like being impossible to exist, even if it is its own characteristic, it also exists, therefore, it should be thought that this itself is the fault of the subject. Here it is said, does the impossibility of the subject depend on the reason? Or does it exist in itself? Both of these are possible. If there is a fault because of being related to the sign, then, that itself is the fault of the sign. That is not a self-established fault, but is visible.

It is also established by words. If self-nature is not established, then neither will direct perception be established. If it is said that it cannot be established by inference, then this is only a fault of the inference itself. Therefore, if one establishes a dharma that is not established, then there too is a fault of the reason. Because there too there is no concomitance of the reason. The fault of establishing on what is already established is on what is established by inference, and that is the fault of the subject. Therefore, what is established by one's own inference is a subject that depends on others. What is established by scripture is not a subject, if the self-character established by direct perception is not the subject of the fault of the reason, is it not? How is it that what is established by scripture, the object of scripture is the general characteristic, and the general characteristic also has concomitance, how is that the fault of the subject? Is it not said that the fault of the reason is not the fault of the subject itself? Then what is it? It is only a transformation from that, and there is also a transformation from that on this. For example, if it is established by scripture, then what need is there for a reason? If it is not established by scripture, then how can it be said to be established by scripture? If others are not established, but oneself is established by scripture, that is also not the case, for example, if scripture is a valid cognition, then it is also established for others. If scripture is not a valid cognition, then it is not established for oneself either. Therefore, for oneself, inference is the subject. If the fire that is established by direct perception for oneself, why is it not the subject for others? It is not, because self-nature is not the subject. That is, the way of the general characteristic is the subject, but not in the way of the particular characteristic. Oneself is not directly perceived by others. Therefore, it is established that there is no inference on what is established by direct perception. If that is the case, for example, cutting off the back neck gland will cause the eyeballs to appear, if what is established by direct perception has no subject, then at that time it will become very non-existent for the undecided, because inference is direct perception.
