For those with the meaning of "etc.," the word "self" also becomes meaningless. Because the word "self" is due to the treatise already being promised, in order for the intention of the treatise's author to become the thing to be proven, preventing this from happening is the purpose itself, and there is no other necessity. If that also becomes something that needs to be proven, then it itself becomes meaningless, and in that case, the characteristic of the subject is irrelevant because it is unrelated to the meaning. If the treatise is for entering (learning) with intention, then where does this doubt come from? If it is not obstructed by valid cognition, then by what will clinging be prevented? Even if it is obstructed by valid cognition, by what words will one enter (learning)? Those previous schools of thought also cling to their own intentions. Then what will happen later, why can't one cling like other (schools of thought)? If the one who understands is due to thinking beforehand, then the thinking itself is the reason for his promising the treatise, therefore why say "self" because one enters (learning) with the intention to have intention towards the treatise? Not all treatises can be examined, therefore for treatises that have not completely eliminated the harm of valid cognition, not entering (learning) is correct, therefore entering (learning) with intention is possible. Like this, the act of thinking beforehand is not just entering (learning) with intention. The individual who distinguishes, the initial basis is intelligence. If one is not someone with understanding, then intention itself is his reason, because he initially promises, and enters (learning) solely by that. Therefore, the second and third will also become like that. If those are learning for that meaning, then what is unwanted should be eliminated. If the previous argument is also held by your intention, therefore the treatise is held by intention, if it is necessary to prove it in this way, then it should be promised after examination, because intention alone is not applicable here, and the reasoning that contradicts entering (learning) with intention should be shown. Therefore, if what is seen from the treatise becomes the thing to be proven, then saying "self" is unreasonable. In that case, then abandoning the meaning of the treatise, even if it is to prove the meaning of the intention of the abscess itself, if it is harmed by valid cognition, then nothing will change, and one will still enter (learning). If one thinks there is no harm, then one is also entering (learning) oneself, so what is the use of saying "self"?

Question: Why is this done? Answer: Because there is no desired harm and it is not to be proven, because it shows no exhaustion, in order to dispel wrong views, therefore the self-nature is spoken of here. All treatises are for the sake of dispelling wrong views, therefore here too, what is seen from the treatise is to be proven, so there is no wrong view. In what way? Because there is no harm to what is desired, and it is not to be proven, and it shows no exhaustion. What is seen from the treatise, even if there is harm, there is no harm to what is desired. If it does not exist, it will not arise, and this itself is not to be proven, if it does not exist, it will not arise, even so, if it is to be proven, then it will fall into the fault of no exhaustion, which is explained by the nature of reason itself. Therefore, this is not so. The difference made by the scriptures is: having completely abandoned the extremely famous, the dharmata is for grasping the meaning, others say the sound of self-nature. The difference arranged by the scriptures is that the dharmata, which is characterized by the qualities of space itself, is completely abandoned, because the treatise in which self-nature is extremely established is not to be proven, so in order to grasp the dharmata that is not to be proven from the whole, the self-nature is spoken of, for example, a certain dharmata is self-existent, not made by others, that is the dharmata, not others, this implies that, if it is said so, it is not so. For example, in the case of the examination itself, the extremely famous basis will be established, the difference of extremely wanting to examine is, because there is no dispute about things. Examining certain dharmatas for permanence and impermanence, etc., is done on the established self-nature. Its own nature is to be proven, and for the time being, it should be examined itself. Because the dharmata is not established, it is impossible to prove it. Or, the nature of sound itself is to be proven, then it should be accepted as the nature of the dharmata itself. What is the use of accepting the difference that is not established? Or, the debater wants to prove that such a thing is impermanent, that is not so. For example, because the listener does not want that, because it cannot be established from that.
