It is not the case that one does not debate without relying on correction, because there is no commitment at that time. The method of commitment is precisely examination. If one commits without examination, then even if it exists at that time, it is not a limb, because of the harm of valid cognition. A scripture that cannot be examined is not harmful at that time. So, at what time is the scripture that is committed a limb of harm? Here it is said: When the two objects are completely pure, That is when the scriptures are fully grasped, The time of desire is that time, The scriptures will then become harmful. "Thus" means that when the two objects of the manifest and the hidden, by means of direct perception and inference, are completely pure, if one is not completely satisfied with just that, at the time when one wants to hold the scriptures, then that becomes the time to accept the scriptures. At that very time, the scriptures are harmful. Why? Because, To think that it contradicts the established meaning Is not reasonable, If it shifts to the third place, It is reasonable to accept the scriptures. Having examined the scriptures, If one commits, then it is unreasonable to think that it contradicts the meaning that is completely established from that scripture. If, That scripture is well examined, How does it harm the pledge? It should be examined again, If understood, it will not be examined. Therefore, having examined with direct perception and inference, because of committing to the scriptures as a reason for shifting its non-object to the third place, the scripture is not harmful to the object of inference. Or, if one commits to the scriptures without examination, will it become a fault of the pledge because the scriptures are harmful? That is not the case, like this: There also, the dharma to be established and, What does not arise without is harmful, It should be abandoned, not others, Because it is too broad without connection. If one should abandon the harm to its meaning merely because one has committed to the scriptures, then establishing the qualities of rubbing in a reversed way would also become a fault. Therefore, one should abandon the harm that is related to the dharma to be established, not others that are not related, this is the meaning.

is abiding. If one argues without accepting the scriptures, it will only become mainly about refuting the opponent, because it is impossible not to rely on the scriptures. If it is said that there is no acceptance of what is established by valid cognition and similarly no acceptance of what is not established by valid cognition, that is impossible. Because, in the third case, it is not that there is no such thing as not accepting the scriptures, but what can the scriptures do other than in the third case? For example: All speculations need scriptures. Who made this rule? Now those who have no tenets will not recognize fire from smoke. If all valid cognitions are accepted as entering into an established tenet, then even the world's cowherds etc. will not recognize fire from smoke. If it is said that whatever is useful for the next world is what is preceded by accepting the scriptures, and others are not, if you say so. That is also not right, because: Without accepting the scriptures, if that is valid cognition, then where is the need for the scriptures to precede at that time? If it is not accepted, there will be fear of being harmed by the scriptures. If it is accepted, it will be known to be harmed by the scriptures, so it should not be argued at that time, if you say so, that is not right, because even if you do not want to argue with valid cognition, it will become so. The scriptures should be abandoned at that time. If you ask how one should abandon oneself? That is not right, because there is no connection. Because it has its qualities, it is its own. For example: Beings are born alone, not seeing merits and faults, that unlovable demon of sectarianism, alas, who distributed it? If even with reason one cannot abandon an established tenet, then at that time, this is not an established tenet, but in the manner of a tenet, it is an unlovable demon of children, because one cannot be liberated from it. If it is born from being connected together, one cannot completely abandon it, then how are those beings born alone born together with it? Because valid cognition is abandoned, where is the distinction between merits and faults? Therefore, inference is not preceded by accepting the scriptures. What about inference that contradicts the scriptures?
