Then, should we also speak of refuting for the sake of refutation? If so, then, if others express a valid and reasoned refutation, then the debater should also express a valid and reasoned proof. Just as the respondent says, "How do I not understand this here?" the debater should also express a valid and reasoned argument. If not, then the doubt will arise, "Just as I do not understand here, others may also not understand," and one will not be free from this doubt. It is not based on being satisfied without certainty that others have understood. It is not merely because one wants to win that the wise engage in debate or compose treatises for that purpose, for that is the true purpose of engaging in debate. Therefore, if one understands oneself, one will say, "This person understands this, and saying they do not understand is false." If one does not understand oneself, if others do not admit it, it cannot be a reason for debate; who would want to fail themselves? If this is understood through valid cognition, even if others do not admit it, it will be understood that others are speaking falsely. However, even if one understands oneself, how does one know whether others understand? Even if the respondent does not understand, the listeners will understand. If the listeners understand, even if the respondent does not understand, then he has no assembly; it is not the debater's fault. Showing milk to a blind person, even if they do not see it, the shower is not at fault. Even if the debater gives the respondent eyes, it cannot be said that he has understood. If one says, "White milk," even if a person with incomplete eyes does not understand, it is the fault of the respondent himself being blind; how can it be said to be the debater's fault? Merely understanding with the senses does not mean that the debater has completed the meaning of the words. If, listeners who are guided by altruism and compassion are satisfied merely because they themselves understand, how can this connection be reasonable? Merely being completely satisfied oneself is not a substitute for benefiting others, because they want to eliminate the ignorance of others. Therefore, the respondent should be made to understand.

In reality, where is this statement, "merely being understood by the listener is completely satisfying," directed and transferred? For what purpose is the composition written to make the opponent understand? And where is it that merely being understood by the listener is sufficient? Furthermore, if one declines due to being biased, when does the listener argue? There, the opponent should also seek other listeners. If the listener becomes the opponent, by transferring the listener elsewhere, since there is no end, whose teacher will the opponent become? However, even if the world of the listener becomes the opponent's side, even so, it is clear that they are not listeners due to being biased. This is stated: This is said to be doing for the benefit of others, is it also the same for those without merit? Since it is not done due to exceeding ability, is it not the nature of compassion? Even with compassion, one is only able to do for those with merit. For those without merit, even if one has the ability, compassion does not decline due to decline. If one thinks that is not a compassionate person, then one has not understood. If the listeners fall into bias, because of not understanding, without a doubt, one will seek other listeners. Not everything is an argument, because there is no need, and because they are mutually dependent. If they also refute each other, and are themselves opponents, then all terms will be cut off and nothing will be seen, therefore, merely the understanding of the listener is sufficient to complete the speech. To defeat others by stating what should not be accepted, etc., is without compassion. Therefore, by showing what one has understood to the listener, etc., one relies on the ability to show oneself. Therefore, establishment for others is established from scripture. If that scripture is accepted by others, from the dharma of the completely established side, is it not understanding those things themselves? No, because it would harm one side, so it cannot be admitted in that way. For that very reason, it is said: If that scripture is possessed and established, then whose scripture is it? What scripture is it? It is established as being harmed by valid cognition (प्रमाण,pramāṇa, ಪ್ರಮಾಣ). How is that scripture established? If it is not valid cognition and is not accepted by others, then whose scripture is it? What scripture is it? If one does not acce
