If asked, where does it fall? No, because it is to show the meaning seen by both, so this is how the nature itself abides. This also eliminates the inverted understanding. If it becomes "that is the meaning itself"? No, because for which meaning, this "only" is contained by the word "also", this is unreasonable. Without understanding oneself, one cannot say that others understand. If it is said that it may be understood by others, but it is not necessary to fully know that others understand, because it is enough to understand oneself. Then, if one does not understand oneself, how can one state it to others? If it is said, because it is established in others. Then, the very fact that it is established in others will become like that. Therefore, without understanding oneself, how can it be established there? By seeing this shore, others understanding does not make it a direct perception. Inference also depends on one's own understanding. Therefore, determining that others understand is also that one understands oneself. Or, understanding from the teachings of others, and one also understands it, but, the debater does not accept that teaching, so it will be said that there is no understanding. Therefore, what is it that others understand from the teachings, but one does not understand oneself? If it is said that it is also the very thing to be established. Then, here it is said: In order to fully accept the pervasive sign, for the object of inference, words are not intended to be valid means of knowledge. Inference does not enter there. Scriptural authority is also not a valid means of knowledge. If it were a valid means of knowledge, then it would be established for both, just like other things seen by a valid means of knowledge. If it is not a valid means of knowledge, then it is not for anyone. If asked, because it has been promised, is it established in the opponent? For the object of inference, because it has been promised, scriptural authority itself is not a valid means of knowledge, because it has been promised to fully examine. That is a valid means of knowledge for objects that are not direct perception and inference, but it is not their object. If it is not in any way, then what is the use of inference? Because meaning can be established merely through words. For example, the Samkhya school says: happiness etc. are not conscious, because they are produced or impermanent, like form etc. This is wanting to be fully established in others, but for the Samkhya school itself, being produced or im
