Merely manifesting desires, not all words are like that. Just as manifestation and subsequent inference are both valid cognitions (pramāṇa, प्रमाण, pramāṇa, valid cognition), because words are also the cause of terms. If it is said that without words, the world's terms would not be complete, in response to that, it is explained: Manifestation and subsequent inference, without words, would the world's terms disappear? Is that also a valid cognition? Without manifestation and so on, wouldn't one still apply by remembering the meaning seen before? Is the present recollection also a valid cognition? If it is indeed a valid cognition, then words with that kind of meaning are also not valid cognitions. Wherever it is a valid cognition, that is because of the cause of subsequent inference, otherwise it is not. Here, I only want to say this much, it is not that all words are the cause of all inferences. Words are just subsequent inferences, their own nature itself is not a valid cognition. Showing that everything is a subsequent inference is not necessary. Therefore, only the words that show the three aspects are valid. Then, how are the words of the Vedas valid cognitions? There, for example, "twelve months are a year" and so on, are valid cognitions merely because they show the meaning of manifestation and subsequent inference, otherwise they are not, like the words of a person. If it is said that it is a valid cognition because it is not made by a person, that is not so, because there is no trust. No one believes merely by words. If it is a Veda like manifestation, why is it not understood by everyone? Just like the moment and so on. Not everything can be understood from subsequent inference either. If it is said that there is error, then there is error here too. Subsequent inference can be corrected by the same kind of inference in a place of trust, but the Vedas cannot be corrected by the same kind of words, so this is not the same. Because of concomitance and connection, subsequent inference is a valid cognition. For the Vedas, concomitance is needed, it has been previously examined and not seen. Or, the meaning is that only the words that show the three aspects are other subsequent inferences, not the words of the Vedas, because they do not have the three aspects.

In this case, the following of truth itself is not seen, and the dharma of aspects is also not seen. For example, the very fact of being uncreated by a person is contradicted by untruth itself, and there is no following of truth itself. If it is said that "twelve months are a year" is a following, then it should be said in response: Fire offerings and the like are not necessarily the Vedas. Some have made this, so it is understood as being made by a person. This is because some have inserted it among a hundred things not made by a person, and it is heard that other limbs have been made in some parts. If it is said that it is enough to remember such a term, it is not so, because there is no trust. It would also become a fault for others. All of this has been explained before, so it will not be elaborated here, but set aside. If the sign of the third mode is expressed by the sound seen by oneself, then it should be said, "The sign showing the third mode should be inferred for the sake of others." What is the use of mentioning what one has seen oneself? It is not so, because there is another meaning. For example, in order to show it to others, even if I have not seen it myself, the seeing of others is the means of proof, as some say. In order to abandon that, the words of seeing oneself are spoken. Inferring for the sake of others is not to be done according to one's own understanding, because it is for others to understand. If the sign is understood by others, then it will become understood by others. It should not be said, "How can others understand if the opponent does not understand?" Even if the opponent understands, others will not understand without their own understanding. If that exists, then what do others do to transform it here? It is not credible that the opponent understands it just by that. However, did this person know and show it? Even if it is not so, it is superfluous, because one thinks, "How did I understand it?" For the sake of one's own understanding. What is to be done here with the analysis of excessive and superfluous aspects? Because one considers that even if one does not understand, the understanding of others is a sign, in order to refute that idea, one mentions what one has seen oneself. If that is the case, then it will become seen only by oneself, and in order to analyze the seeing of others, the other is meaningless.
