Then, if it is said that something produces all entering consciousnesses, then according to that statement, the previous consciousness is not the cause, because the entering consciousness arises instantaneously from the Alaya consciousness itself. Therefore, it is not a cause for us either. If the entering consciousness is the cause of the previous one, then since the result follows its existence and non-existence, and follows its reversal, the Alaya consciousness would become the cause, if you say so. In response to this, it is explained: Although different kinds arise simultaneously, but with one very clear mind, because it causes the ability to decline, it arises from other than the Alaya. If the Alaya consciousness is not the cause, then according to that statement, although sometimes different kinds of consciousness arise simultaneously, the entering consciousness becomes different because it is attached to other things, because one very clear mind makes it different, it does not arise from other than the Alaya. Therefore, there also, the immediately preceding condition of the same kind is the cause. Then, since the same and different consciousnesses do not arise from it itself, what does the Alaya consciousness do? Stop thinking about the Alaya consciousness! Or, because it is the basis of its habits, there is no fault. If you do not want the previous consciousness as the cause, then at that time: If it is not so, the mind-entry is, for the same, the other mind will not depend. If it is the cause, then for the previous mind entering the same, the later mind will depend, because it is not the cause, it is reasonable to become dependent. Therefore, because of dependence, this is the cause, which is a logical conclusion. Furthermore, since consciousness arises sequentially, dependence is also fully established. The cause of the mind's consciousness is only the immediately preceding condition of the same kind is the cause. If that is not the cause either, then because it is without cause, it will arise instantaneously. Therefore, the later consciousness is the cause of the previous consciousness, so if the ability of the previous consciousness does not exist, then nothing will exist. Because it is one mind, so for others, because attachment does not arise from others, other consciousnesses will not arise, if you say so.
