That, that does not exist, because for knowledge there is no basis. In ultimate truth, it is not a valid means of cognition. Because it is not related to meaning, its name is also without foundation. If knowledge itself is without beginning, then initially there is no grasping of connection with meaning. The names of those who perform giving are also without foundation. Therefore, this is merely a transmission of the blind. Although it appears by the power of the meaning-symbols of conceptual thought, meaning is not attained by that alone, because others also see it, as has already been explained. For this, the basis is subsequent inference, therefore even if there is habituation, there is no fault. Furthermore, therefore, because the mind is also clear, abandoning the habits of causes, this is the distinction of the Great Sage (thub chen) such as the rhinoceros horn who engages in the benefit of others. For the clarity of realization, all subtle kinds of faults and virtues appear, and for the love of benefiting sentient beings, even a slight fault causes harm, therefore it is eliminated by habituation. Food and so on also arise in reversed habituation, otherwise it is not so. For example, from being accustomed to eating three portions of food, one becomes the master of eating two portions. Eating two portions becomes eating one portion, therefore hunger completely disappears. If this were inherent in things, then it would not be accomplished by habituation. Therefore, the faults and virtues of embodied beings, all have habituation as their root. Because habituation depends on oneself, striving for virtue is the best. Because habituation is related to clarity, therefore the Bhagavan Sugata is superior to the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Furthermore, when the remembrance of past lives arises, being connected with the past teachers, at that time the hunger and so on of the nature of gods and so on do not exist. If the teacher does not teach understanding as the very method of completely pacifying suffering? It is also said that conjunction is the teacher because it shows the way to the travelers. How then does this become a method of habituation? This is true, however, the method of habituation itself is the teacher, and not another, thus it is explained: Because of that meaning, the method of habituation, is considered to be the teacher. Because it arises first from accomplishment, these two...

is declared in the cause. There, it is not considered that the teacher himself is truly existent, however, it is merely the habituation of skillful means. How is it understood? For that meaning, the meaning is transformed by that word, just as the offering of the meaning of power is called by the word of power. Where does that meaning itself come from? Because it arises from that. The teacher is accomplished from the habituation of skillful means and the wise. What does that reveal? The explanation for this is: these two are said to be the cause. Among them, the cause is the perfection of intention and action. Intention is the desire to benefit beings. Action is to show the path of the teacher to beings. Saying this is the cause, where does it come from? Because this is the initial statement. The true teacher himself is not the cause of the Tathagata. Therefore, it should be understood that only the habituation of skillful means is the teacher, not others. In this way, the Bhagavan becomes the Tathagata from the habituation of skillful means. What is the Tathagata himself? It is explained: cutting off the cause, the three qualities are the Tathagata. Itself is the non-reliance of suffering. It is excellent, that is selflessness. It comes from seeing or action. The attachment made by the clinging to self and what belongs to self, which has the object of conditioned phenomena, is the cause, and the three qualities of cutting off that cause are: because it is excellent, because it does not regress, and because it is completely cut off. What is cut off is the absence of clinging to self and what belongs to self, and because there are none of those, it is the non-reliance of suffering, therefore it is excellent. If one clings to self and what belongs to self, then the suffering of the heretics will be related to the suffering born from the cause. For the clinging to self, there is the suffering of separation. Where does that cutting off itself come from? From seeing selflessness. The afflictions to be abandoned by seeing are abandoned from seeing itself. It also comes from action. Action is habituation, destroying the afflictions to be abandoned through meditation. Or, action is having, that is, the mutual relationship itself. Non-duality itself, or seeing non-duality. Whenever, from the selflessness of the person, or from the selflessness of the phenomena,
