What is not to be done, what is the fault of doing it? Therefore, it is not the doctrine of others. If one knows gradually, how does one know the beginningless object? No, all things are known non-gradually. For example, for one who is extremely familiar, the meaning of the scriptures appears in the mind in a single instant. Likewise, so is the boundless awareness. For example, just as the meaning of the scriptures appears in a single instant for one who is extremely familiar, so too is the beginningless and endless awareness. Is it because the scriptures are not valid? No, it is not because they appear because they possess validity. However, it is from familiarity. Since everything that is expressed by the scriptures appears, does it appear in memory? No, because the meaning of the scriptures, which was not there before, is interconnected, so is it not that it appears to others through some cause that is close to it? If it is not also others because of some cause of the appearance of the meaning of the scriptures that are interconnected with it? Is it not so that the appearance without beginning and end is not like that? How does the unprecedented appear? Everything is the same. Thus, apart from the relationship of cause and effect, there is no close cause in all things, and so it is in terminology, how can it not be there? The close cause of all things in the scriptures is the object of cause and effect, so everything appears. This is also the same in terminology, thus, this transformation of this is this, and the cause of this must be like this. That cause also produces so many fruits through. By what is there a co-occurrence with this? Or without change, this merit is like this, so others understand the mind. When knowing previous lives and so on, it is also known in all places by separating from each other, so other kalpas can also be known. By kalpa, in the birth of those with kalpas, by the awareness of cause and effect, one knows the nature of all beings, and by that one knows the way of dwelling inside and outside. Thus, knowing all meanings, abandoning all doctrines, is taught here. Whatever other person, also follows other scriptures and clearly explains. Commentary on the Ornament of Valid Cognition
