However, even without a body, it will be connected to other bodies, so the afterlife is not non-existent. Even without one body, it is not contradictory to generate such a mind, just like the consciousness that follows other bright things. Therefore, if there are no things of cause and effect, then there are no things that are the basis and the dependent. If things are destroyed from other things, then what is the use of its cause of existence? Even if it is destroyed without other things, the causes of existence are powerless. All things with a basis have existence, and all living things have a basis. Therefore, all things, even at some point, will not be destroyed. If self-destruction and self-nature exist, then what other cause of existence is there? If it is not self-destruction and self-nature, then what other cause of existence is there? These are the summarizing verses. If light and lamps are not the basis and the dependent of the basis and existence, but they are seen as things of basis and dependent. However, even if it is not a dharma of falling, the lamp exists as a thing of basis. If it disappears, then this will also disappear, because the light will not transfer to the lamp or other places that are not the lamp. For example, when a candle goes out, the light of the candle staying in another place will also disappear, similarly, when the body is destroyed, the consciousness dependent on the body staying in another place will also disappear. In reality, it is also not staying in a place, because consciousness can only see its image. Here it is said that light and lamps change there and will change, so they are things of basis and dependent, but body and mind are not like that, however, wisdom and so on are mind itself. Like this: The essence of the body does not increase or decrease, through the difference of the function of consciousness, wisdom and so on become essence and decrease. This does not exist in things of basis such as the light of a candle. From there also changes occur, because it is not without help to the mind. Even if the combination of the body has no difference, but through the power of the difference of the combination of consciousness, differences will occur, therefore the difference of understanding such as wisdom will arise. Therefore, the previous consciousness is the basis of consciousness, not the body.
