If it is said, what is meant by "untrue"? Is it harmed by the consciousness of being awake? If that realization exists at the time, then it is not harmful. If it harms at other times, that is unreasonable. If it is said that at that very time, wakefulness is not perceived, then because the consciousness of wakefulness can perceive and not perceive, the object of harm and the agent of harm are the same. If one does not perceive when awake, then how are wakefulness and non-wakefulness distinguished? If it is said that it is because the thought arises, "I am awake," then the thought "I am awake" also arises in dreams, so how is it distinguished from that? Therefore, it is not reasonable to consider something that is the same in perception as non-existent or untrue. Or, if it is said that the characteristic of being impermanent because the habitual tendencies are unstable, and the perception of uncommon, weak characteristics is untrue, then if that is the case, then for those things for which the habitual tendencies are stable and which are commonly perceived, because there is the opposite situation, transformation is indeed true. Just like this, relying on stable habitual tendencies, there is no other true arising. Merely relying on stable habitual tendencies, the knowledge of wakefulness is true. Whatever has stable habitual tendencies is the consciousness of wakefulness itself, and it is the perception of bliss and commonality, and that is also its own nature, therefore transformation is established. That which has no reliance is momentary and destructive. Where the deity has shown the appearance of both seeing dreams, how can that be untrue? If it is said that it is true, then not all things in dreams are untrue. If that is the case, because transformation is very well established, in order to fully understand the distinctions, then this, like conceptual thought, clearly shows that it is the same refutation. Or, because at the first arising, the clear result of the mind's activity is perceived, it is understood that this is the transference of one who has just died. The mind has the nature of completely grasping the body, and when one sees the arising of the senses of sentient beings, how can one not understand other bodies? For the time being, at the first arising or at other times, the nature of the mind of all beings, having the nature of completely grasping the body, etc., having a special order, because it has the result of the special order of previous habits, this perception is the complete grasp of the body.

It is the manifestation of previous habits that have been accumulated. If it doesn't exist, then it doesn't exist. Therefore, through its power, it can be understood that it has transferred from another body to this body. If it is not like that, then inference cannot be applied. However, since there is no direct perception of transference, how can it be understood through inference? This fault also does not exist. Like this: For the object of inference, there is also no direct perception. Therefore, what fault is there in this? The direct perception of the object of inference does not become the object (of inference). Direct perception and inference are inherently intended to operate in mutually exclusive domains, so how could that be a fault? However, if there is no direct perception of that kind of thing, how can one infer? That fault also does not exist. For a while, whether in the body or elsewhere, operation arises from habitual clinging. From the very thing observed by direct perception, why can't one infer? As it is said, if there is no direct perception of that kind of thing, how can one infer? Because inference is preceded by direct perception. The answer to this statement is: Even if transference is not directly seen, the result that is consistent with transference can be observed, just like transferring to another village. For example, people who come from another village or another place will like the places they used to like and the familiar behaviors of their own kind, and so on. If others have not observed coming from such a place, even so, it can be determined through inference that this person has come from such a place. Similarly, by liking the characteristics of familiar behaviors and so on, it can also be determined that they have come from the world of gods and so on. Because inference can be applied simply by directly observing someone coming from another village. The specific characteristics of fire to be inferred from smoke are not observed through direct perception. If only fire is observed, then it is the same here, because transference to places and so on can be observed. However, for example, transferring to another place and so on is seen as being of the same body without abandoning the body. And just as the transference of the dream body is not true, similarly, here also, the initial birth has not abandoned the body, and it will become false.
