Although it arises from the great elements, it is not excessively so. Therefore, if it is said that the distinctions such as hardness are the very nature of the seed, and therefore beings arise from that, then it has already been said that this would become devoid of the very entity of cause and effect. Furthermore, there is none of the elements such as earth that does not give rise to beings from the warmth and moisture mentioned above. Therefore, everything is the nature of the seed. The distinctions of differences such as hardness do not generate the distinctions of beings, because beings are seen everywhere. Beings born from warmth, moisture, etc., are not unseen without distinction. Therefore, the distinction is not made by hardness, etc., so only the function of the nature of mind remains. However, if it is said that the types of beings are determined to follow hardness, etc., then all similar types will become the nature of beings of that nature. All the altered water that has been cut and placed will become the nature of beings of that nature, so how are the colors and shapes of beings different? For example, where do the appearances of other aquatic creatures such as red heads and yellow bodies come from? At no time will the distinctions of lotuses, etc., be absent, or do you want to see them from that actual seed? All the distinctions of beings come from the seed, and without that, this cannot be determined. Therefore, if the faculties, etc., arise without depending on their own kind, how can one be completely transformed, and all transformations be without difference? This is a summary. Furthermore, the faculties that depend on the consciousness of mind produce their own results, but the consciousness of mind itself does not depend on them. Therefore, showing that the faculties arise from the consciousness of mind itself, and not from earth, water, etc., is "if each of the faculties is harmed," and so on. Or, for a while, the consciousness of mind does not arise in the body, which is the nature of that gathering. Breathing in and out, etc., are the very nature of the complete transformation of the great elements.

Indeed, because the parents' seed is semen and blood. Samsara is also the consciousness of mind, not the senses, etc. Thus, it is said: "Free from the desire for alcohol and sexual union, decay and death, and rebirths, etc., are considered to be the consciousness of mind. Birth and death are abandonment and equanimity." Therefore, consciousness is the samsara, not dependent on the four great elements, because, if each sense is harmed, the wisdom of consciousness is not harmed. If this (consciousness) changes, then those (senses) also change, which is often seen. Fear, sorrow, joy, and anger, etc., change in the wisdom of consciousness, because seeing that the eyes, etc., also change, so the eyes, etc., are dependent on the consciousness of mind. Therefore, in the initial birth, it is also dependent on it, so other existences are established. Similarly, the consciousness of mind is not dependent on the body, because what is changed by the consciousness of mind is dependent on the fruit of the collection of the five senses. If the eyes, etc., are changed by the consciousness of mind, but how can it be said that they are produced from that (consciousness)? If objects such as pots, etc., are transformed from fire, but they are not produced from fire. Pots, etc., are seen elsewhere, therefore they are not produced from that (fire). From the change of that sense, no other form is seen. All the senses, etc., are indicated by characteristics such as luminosity, but pots, etc., are not changed by fire. Therefore, pots, etc., are not examples. However, if it is now seen to be dependent on the consciousness of mind, then how can it be said that it is the same at other times? That is not so, if smoke is seen from fire, it cannot be said that it is also produced from that (fire) at other times. For this, there is no direct perception. Therefore, for example, by recognizing it, it can be recognized that the smoke is from a previous fire. Similarly, in the initial birth, it can be recognized that the four great elements are the transformation of consciousness. The eyes, etc., of the initial birth have dimness, etc., and recognizing that they are self-transformed, those are so.
