It is merely established. A single thing cannot be grasped by many, therefore it should be regarded as one. The many consciousnesses that arise at different times, because they fully accept the things of their own time, cannot be understood as being a single thing that arises before and after. Because there is no one that can act, and there is no collection either. A single self has connectivity, because it has memory. This ability also exists in memory and connection. The situation is not like that, because I have the nature of discrimination, and this is seen as not having reason. How can this unique nature be a measured antidote? If it is said that there are no faults in the aspects of self and other, then, with what nature is the non-other nature, it is not recognition. Because of the differentiation of various kinds, the different consciousness is the very difference that is not different from it. With what nature is the nature different from consciousness, that is one, therefore there is no repetition. However, if I am a non-cognitive nature, then, at that time it will be recognized by consciousness, and because it is a different entity, how can it hold the non-different entity? Therefore, if consciousness is different, then holding one is unreasonable, therefore the consciousness understood by things should be regarded as one. If the consciousness understood by things holds different entities, even so, since it is not considered that consciousness is one, then how is it recognized? Or rather, it is the recognition of many mixtures. If it is said that it is the recognition of many mixtures, if that is the case, then happiness and so on are also like that, therefore one is merely conventionally existent. By repeatedly familiarizing oneself with it, the clarity and other differences of happiness and so on change from familiarity. Happiness and so on that arise from familiarity are also the very nature of cognition. Do not walking and so on that arise from familiarity also become the nature of stretching and so on? If it is said that those are not the nature of mind either, then, here it is said, from the familiarity of the non-cognitive nature, the change of non-cognition itself will arise. Similarly, why is the nature of cognition not a thing of cognition through familiarity? It is wisdom and so on.

If asked again, does the so-called "habituation to the nature of awakening" refer to habituation to self-awareness, or to habituation to the objects held by the nature of awakening? If it is habituation to self-awareness, then self-awareness is not established. If it belongs to the second case, then it is not certain, because there is a possibility of uncertainty, so it is unreasonable. Even if one is habituated to the practitioners, etc., held by the nature of awakening, the practitioners, etc., will not be regarded as the nature of awakening. Here it is said: Whatever becomes habituated to what, it will become like that. Happiness and other inner experiences, the result of habituation is like that. Happiness and the like are regarded as the nature of inner experience. Even if it is the nature of matter, it is regarded as such because it belongs to one meaning. This statement is also not based on the joy of reason. Therefore, it is precisely because self-awareness is habituated that extreme habituation will produce such a state. If so, will there be no self-awareness at the beginning? Because of sayings such as "from what root," it is also like that. What arises from the power of its cultivation is the essence of experience, just like wisdom and so on. This negates the statement that "its and non-its nature is real, its and non-its real cause is born, consciousness is born from other than the cause, why do forms and the like not understand?" The meaning here is: When the eye and mind act, and the collection of chariots and the like in front of them, things of the same nature act together and produce each other, everything will become the nature of awakening or the nature of non-awakening. Among them, there is no distinction between primary and secondary. For the fruit of the nature of awakening and non-awakening, the collection of forms and the like with visible abilities cannot be established separately. Precisely because of this, if it is said that it itself is uncertain, that is not correct, because it wants to express other meanings of reasoning. Just like the wisdom and the like produced by the increase of cultivation, from the cause of happiness and the like, why can't it be self-aware like that? Whatever becomes habituated to what, it is like that.

This is called the meaning of validity (pramāṇa). Forms and so on cannot become accustomed to their own nature. For the time being, how can it be realized that the distinctions of wisdom and so on, which are to be realized by understanding through meaning, are in union with the self (ātman)? Understanding through meaning only realizes what is unreasonable without it. There is nothing unreasonable because it is in union with the self and because it does not have the nature of realization. However, for what reason does the thing not become hidden, and there must be some other transformation. Therefore, how to realize being in union with the self and so on? Therefore, by what is realized internally, I realize it like this, beings have become accustomed to realizing internally, this is the answer. Even according to those who say that mind is the direct perception of another mind, it is undoubtedly admitted that it appears as being in union with the self and is the nature of realization. If it is not like that, it will only become other things, and it will not become the holder itself. Therefore, this direct perception is in other things, appearing as the nature of holding that abides in it. If it is like that, and the thing also appears on it, then what will appear as destruction? If only the mind appears, then how does it appear as the holder? If it is said that the self and other things are also the same, then the answer will be: being in union with the self itself, or its nature is born from beginningless habituation. If it is like that, then at such a time, wisdom and so on, or happiness and so on, born from the power of habituation, are also only the nature of realization. If that is the case, don't others admit that mind and so on are the nature of experience? If it is not experience, then it has already been shown that it will not become direct perception itself and internal itself. If it is self-awareness, then it will become such a nature, and there will also be clarity that makes things clear, so this is reasonable. If happiness and so on, although born from the power of habituation, are only in union with the self, therefore it is held by the consciousness that is in union with one thing. Therefore, realization and
