That which is called 'no' refers to speaking of subsequent inference. However, if it is said that inference is solely based on seeing without grasping a connection, then it would be too extreme. Because of not seeing, it will not change. If it is said that seeing itself and something else cannot be made one, if one answers 'because of seeing,' then one should consider whether that seeing itself is direct perception or inference. If it is said to be inference, how can it be so, since inference itself should be considered as the object of thought? If it is said to be direct perception, that is not possible, because direct perception cannot see inference. Because it has a hidden object, and direct perception does not apply to what is hidden. How can that which has a hidden object possess inference? If it does not take a hidden object, it is not possible to understand the specific inference of that object. If it is said that one does not grasp it as its object, if that is the case, then inference is only not seeing, so how can 'because of seeing' be a reason? Merely knowing one's own nature becomes inference, because the direct perception of self-awareness sees it that way. If it is said that one merely uses terms in that way, if that is the case, it will only become terminology, so what is the use of clinging to differences? If clinging to differences is also because of seeing, can one not abandon seeing? If so, because seeing itself cannot abandon all ignorance, your efforts to indicate become meaningless. If it is said that yours is also meaningless, it is not so, because it is possible to presume to see what has not been seen, so it is for the purpose of expressing such a thing. That being so, since you presume to cling to differences without clearly seeing them, that is only a matter of contention. Like this: That which is partless and presently appears, Does not rely on difference. The prior and subsequent cognitions also, Do not separately grasp differences. Like the fruit of a jaggery cave, If it is said to become like that from aggregation, There the fruit is one, Therefore, from aggregation...

There is no such thing as non-existence. Here, it is the former and the latter. There is not even a little fruit on the mind. The consciousness other than that is memory, which arises from experience. Separateness is without experience. Without experience, there is no memory. That and simultaneity, if understood, will lead to the attainment of non-duality. Jaggery and honey completely eliminate the diseases that are to be eliminated, and produce the fruit of peaceful dwelling, so it is called a collection. Here, the nature of understanding only one's own meaning, for the former and latter minds, there is not even a little other fruit. Understanding is the nature of those, so when it is separate, what else is there that is not separate from what it depends on to become a collection? If it is said that the memory of the nature of holding the former and the latter is one of their fruits, then it is not so. The memory that follows such a nature arises from experience, but the experience of dualistic grasping does not exist, so there is no memory either. If asked, then how is it said that this conceptual thought of memory follows form and touch? The answer is that it is said with the intention of grasping separateness, but this is not the occasion for that. Memory, which can independently grasp, does not engage in grasping meaning either. Simultaneous Do two memories grasp? If so, it has already been explained that it cannot distinguish separateness, so it is one. Moreover, that which grasps separateness is memory, with such intention, but because it is not experience, in separateness, this consciousness is conventional truth. Thus, on the appearance of transformation and non-transformation, various understandings become one. I see separateness, and what is to be seen, and so the result of that is definitely separate, and there is no entry into the rest. Therefore, in that nature, grasping separateness is not established. Merely appearance is not a distinction between manifold and non-manifold. Therefore, all these distinctions follow the former. If it is said that memory, which becomes clear from habituation, is the direct perception that grasps separateness? The answer is: Whatever is not established by direct perception, how can it be from habituation?
